I’m not planning any new armies so to speak. I currently have an Arnor Army I’m finishing, a Fiefdoms army that’s only 1/3 painted and a whole unpainted Khazadum force…. That being said….. I have a feeling that the fiefdoms may not be their own separate army as they used to be 🤷🏼♂️
Any time there's a new MESBG box set, you need to play that intro. "What's in the Box Today?" MESBG edition, should totally be a series bro! Yeah, if you check any LOTR online source or the book appendices, you will find that Hama and Haleth are indeed the names of Helm's sons, who are mentioned multiple times due to their important roles in Helm's story. The Hama from the LOTR movies is also from the books, being named after the earlier Hama, and Haleth his son is a film original character. It was shown there were Dunlendings with skull masks in the trailers, so I can tottaly see some elite "Hill Tribesmen" guard with wooden or leather armor, heavy weapons and those sick bone helmets. Hopefully with the new Rohirrim and Dunland plastics, this will be a trend for most factions in the game. I can see many metals being phased out. New Fiefdoms, Lossoth/Snow-men of Forochel, Bree-land, Grey Havens, Woodmen of Mirkwood, more Arnor stuff (including Cardolan, Arthedain and Rhudaur), and maybe Blue Mountain, Grey Mountain and Eastern Dwarves would be new faction or expanded factions they can make entirely with plastic or resin.
Sean with the self portrait in the background at the start, that black wig isn't fooling anyone! Very exciting time for the hobby, new plastic warriors makes me feel feelings. Also, where the hell is the "discussing the intricate politics surrounding pancake parlour Northland" video? :P EDIT: YES! OBSCURE AUSTRALIAN LORE! INJECT IT INTO MY VEINS! GIVE ME THAT "I read Green Guide Letters" STUFF!
Great videos! I really like what GW is doing right now! Someone ask them if Minas Tirith will have the same treatment. GW replied « that would be cool ». I feel (and hope) like in GW words it means « be ready, it will come one day »
I definitely think if these guys sell well (and from what I can gather I reckon they will) it'll give em the confidence to go forward with more updates like this -Liam
After all the new Angmar stuff being forgeworld, this has renewed my hope that GW will bring MESBG into this decade of model design. Hopefully this isn't their standard cocktease of the grouped kit being all plastic and everything else being old FW/metal. Ideally this year we see a Moria battlehost with at least the generic captains/shaman in plastic
I doubt FW and Metals are going anywhere anytime soon but it's definitely nice to see plastics back on the menu. Hopefully good sales of these lads will give them confidence to do more. -Liam
Well this one put a smile on my dial I was worried at first since the trailer for the movie looks like it’ll be RoP tier quality… but daaaamn these new miniatures are epic! I’m definitely going to go all in on Rohan next year. And good luck for Brisbane Lions Sean!
@Napominis is it tho? Old warrior boxes $40 each and 2-hero boxes around the same puts you at $160 with the models at old prices. But I expect these new warrior boxes and the 2-hero boxes will probably be $60 each, plus the rules and terrain that no one needs and yeah, we're looking at $250-300 which is a lot to ask from a new player
The updated Rohan troops is the big one for me! Really gives me hope we’ll get updated troops in other factions down the line, they have the file for that high elf banner so I’m praying one day they do an updated high elf box Wasn’t going to get any of this when it was first mentioned but I’m getting more and more tempted
I'm honestly disappointed with Carn Dum, was really excited for them but after reading their rules in the supplement and seeing this I'd definitely say they are a let down. The warriors should definitely lose their anti hero special rule and go down to 6 or 7 ppm. Though I could see the argument that then they do the same thing as the orcs. The other alternative is raise their points cost, and then have 2H axes and burly
Aldrac seems good in the overall Angmar list, which unfortunately is not near as useful because The Host of The Witch King is a really really impressive legion. I've played it with a couple of guys in our group and I'm not sure they even really played the game.
I really like Aldrac, the free combats seem very strong, but the way to run the legion is definitely not by using carn dum, just abuse the f6 free combats and spam orcs. Fantastic batrep, really fun to watch!
Carn Dum heroes are decent when sprinkled. Running my Angmar, I'll bring only Carn Dum captains for anything unnamed. A cheap 60ish point captain with +1 to wound against heroes makes them trade up. Carn Dum warriors are a spicy disappointment. +1 to wound heroes is neat, but you're paying a premium for a niche ability. You don't even get it in Spear support. The legion wouldn't be half bad if Orcs got a buff of some sort. Carn Dum leaders, then spam orcs upon orcs upon orcs. Stat check them with bodies, the problem being the Orcs don't get anything.
The watcher in the water is such an absolute menace. The threat of erupting anywhere on the battlefield, disrupting battle lines and oneshotting big heroes if set up properly with a batswarm is such a freaking menace. Makes your opponent extremely anxious on where to place their troops/ heroes. The psychological effect alone is so worth it.
Oh absolutely, to be fair when we made this we'd not really played with or against much of the watcher but Jesus he's an absolute bastard and I hate him. At least when he's played "right". Much more fun and interesting when he's just getting stuck into a line -Liam
I normally really enjoy your videos and think you do a lot of great stuff, but this time I got a bit of criticism. I don't say this to shame Liam, since I myself complain quite a lot sometimes if a game is really onesided, but to me this was not fun to watch because of the constant complaining. I was considering not giving a feedback since it is quite negative, but I hope it helps instead of just bringing you down.
I agree completely, I feel the exact same as I currently watch this. Had to pause and check if anyone else was as annoyed as I am about how annoyed Liam always is... Wait a minute, am I Liam???
Interesting video, might even make me do a U-turn on a recently placed order of Easterlings (Warriors MTO, Warriors, Kataphracts, Rutabi / Brogir and Amdur) to ally in to my Mordor. Love the look of the Easterlings and those heroes are very hard hitting BUT I think a better ally would be Serpent Horde. Other than the heroes, the Easterlings bring D6 pike block and Shieldwall cav. None of it bad but Mordor isn't short of hard-hitting. It is badly lacking shooting though and I think the Horde would bring a lot more that's of more value, especially with the Betrayer.
😢 The noobs did Khamul so dirty here. He is the only wraith with an unlimited amount of will, I usually get 16 Will out of him, one time I got 18 will with him. Sure *some* of his spells have the plus one, but Instill fear and Sap will are both the same as a normal wraith. With his ability to throw more will and fight at F6, he is no way in D tier.
Loved the video! I'm new to the game and started Mordor and had a quick question if anyone can help. I love the Mouth of Sauron mini and see he has good casting but with only 4 Will seems underwhelming? As you probably want to roll at least 2 dice to pop off even a 3+ spell just to try a appease the dice gods. So basically only two turns of casting if playing this way? Or are magic powers in the game strong that it can only take 1 or 2 uses in a game to turn the tide? I have the rule book and have read it throughly, just yet to play using and casters. Love the content and have binged them all month. I blame you for my spontaneous Snaggers and Gorbag purchase!
Absolutely dude, transfix can be the difference between a hero living or dying, it's an absolutely fantastic spell and three plus is reliable enough that you can use one dice to cast and still likely get it off. Mouth is also a fantastic secondary caster to join up with a WK or the like to really drain your opponents resources -Liam
