Would love to meet up with the remaining surviving band members, Phil and Rex again, but not sure I'd want to pay for the privilege. Back in the day, used to be you'd be able to go to a record store, to meet a given band and have your piece of memorabilia signed by the band, in a relaxed informal atmosphere, but now unfortunately all big or significant bands like Pantera have adopted the new opportunist money making system, of charging fans over tbe odds for a VIP experience, where you apparently stand in a long queue, when your turn comes, your given a very short clinical coutdown to have a picture taken with a band member, then pushed along. I know no one is forcing people to pay for it, but nevertheless, it just doesnt feel right
You're the kid in the video (basing that on the top comment also being from this account 7 years ago)? Did you meet them all that day? Who was cool? Who wasn't? How'd you get to be roadie for a day?
@@chrisg7731 I won a competition in a UK heavy metal magazine called Kerrang back in early 1993, when I was a young teen. The prize was to be Pantera's roadie for a day, the same day they played a gig at Londons Kentish Town, venue called at the time Town & Country club. The comp involved you having to write something like, what would you do to encourage Phil Anselmo to do a gig, if he had cold or was slightly ill, whatever I wrote, I was quite proud of it, forgot about, until I got in from school and my mum said some lady from a record company said you won a competition. When your a kid and you idolise something or someone, it's magical and I idolised Pantera at the time. Was touch and go I couldn't go on the day though, as my folks were concerned with me hanging out with a wild heavy metal band, a magazine rep persuaded them I'd be ok though, I'd have him as a responsible chaperone. So I got to go, met them early in morning, on a very cold February, on their tour bus, was sat right opposite Phil, we spoke incessantly about Boxing, he said I reminded him of an Irish boxer, they all put me right at ease, as they could obviously see I was nervous. We drove to a record store, where they hung out for a while, doing signings etc. I ate most of their buffet. Chatted alot to dimebag about music in the shop, I picked him out a Deicide cd and he kinda looked at me like nah. I told him, my other favourite group was Sepultura, hence me wearing their shirt that day, I felt I couldn't be uncool and wear the band I'm seeing that day's shirt. Then got to the venue, hung out with them more, as I didn't want to crowd them, I went off and hung out with the very friendly support band, Gruntruck and Pantera's roadies, all massive decent down to earth fellas. Spoke alot to the bands huge bodyguard Big Val, gentle giant. Then towards the start time of the gig, sound checked with the band, got to play their instruments, then knocked back some Black tooth drinks with Dimebag, there was no way he'd allow me to hang out with them, without having some black tooths. Although I was only a kid, I was quite big and mature for my age and I towered over them, so they probably thought I could take it. So I was pretty plastered come showtime, but the band still pushed me out on stage, to do the microphone tests. A real highlight for me, I got to carry Dimebags Excalibur guitar, the lightening bolt one, on the way to the stage, before doing so, he told me, you're gonna remember this day for the rest of your life, he wasn't wrong. During the gig, I stood to the side, with Big Val, until during a short interval, Phil brought me on stage, announced who I was, then tilted my head back and poured some beer down me. Then I partied on with the band afterwards, was given a cab back home in the early hours, before I made it to the front door, I collapsed into my mums flower bed, apparently my mum was watching all of this happen and she and my dad had to carry me into the house. Top memorable day. Then a year or so after, I noticed I was included, briefly on their general release video, Vulgar Video, with me knocking back a black tooth with dimebag. I ended up getting recognised by alot of metal fans at subsequent gigs from that vid and got alot of free drinks
All these years later and im still so glad they rehearsed what to do if something fails in a show! I hope the ending of the show wasnt effected by what happened!
The episode where da woman sniffed gas ⛽️ all day was crazy too! She carried a gas can around too! Kept gas handy for an occasional whiff! Out of her mind! Doc warned her to stop the insanity!😮 U pump gas , there are sign’s warning it’s cancerous etc! “& u wanna sniff that all day!?”
I’ve heard of sniffing gas fumes…. But eating nail polish!?!?!?! 7-11 yrs later! Hope she finally quit!!!!! 🤮 yuck! Makes absolutely no sense why someone would do that!
I’m here because I too am obsessed with chewing nail polish. Clear only and I love the chewy texture once dry. I actually only get this craving while pregnant, and I was recently pregnant.
my mom licked a sharpie when she was pregnant 😭 I forgot what it was but it was a thing where you have to urge to eat things that aren’t edible with strong smells
same but im not pregnant at all, clear is the best flavor (and smell) but most colors are good, if they’re from specific brands. i also like licking the polish occasionally and i love inhaling it every few weeks yes i know it’s terrible
Wth~~~hell seriously it's pretty dangerous drinking nail polish 💀 It contains petroleum solvent which is damn dangerous it's one of the petrochemical👀..it contains may chemicals
