"I strive to create nontraditional images and scenes in locations that most people will never have the pleasure to see. I explore locations that have been abandoned and create collections of images that tell a story to the viewer, both as singular pictures and as a whole experience. These abandoned buildings and locations speak volumes when you enter them, even in their abandoned and decaying state. Every room you look into tells a story and every artifact from a bygone era holds years of meaning and lost purpose. I enjoy searching for beauty in uncommon places and by doing so, help to preserve the history, memory and spirit that still shines ever so faintly in the dust and decay of these modern ruins." www.thedigitalmirage.com

Got to Chanute in June 83 <3350th Tech Tng Gp>; Permanent Party. Soon got out and went Civil Service until they turned the lights off. Only live 15 miles away; haven't went back, and I don't know if I even want to go back. I have nothing against the base itself, it's just some of the personnel there at the time were not concerned with keeping the brown off their noses.

For a place that has been abandoned, it sure looks great. I think that with a few fixing ups, the place could be restored back to its rightful place as a concert/game venue.

I went to many concerts there in the 70s and 80s. The Who, Tina Turner, Chaka Kahn, Mister Mister, Neil Diamond, Johnny Rivers, The Brothers Johnson, and more. Also a few basketball games and one Hockey contest.

I know the case This is the place that is really fun but there is a ecsident of robers that stealing something, in that case the people shutting down the place because there is to much case in there like someone is falling down at the slide, a rober, and so much more and that, s why this place is abandoned. So everyone is need to know this place as a memory 😢😢😞😔

I used to plan the summer picnic there for all the E-One employees for 5 years. It was a great destination and they had access to the Water Park and to the concert side. It was so nice to see parents interacting with their children. They provided dinner and drinks for all our employees. It always started around 5pm and the park was just open for E-One. Great memories

I have to admit that Specter was indeed an enchantingly beautiful place in the movie and when it fell into disrepair... It was full of sorrows and so sad, but luckily Edward Bloom bought the town's properties, renovated them and the condition was that the residents continue their peaceful lives. If I were a millionaire, in addition to returning the Pacific Electric streetcars to the streets of Los Angeles, I would buy this tourist attraction from the movie and renovate and build it back to its original cinematic glory, with a nice green lawn, but without a road going over it, I would renovate those houses, I would buy them beautifully clean and shiny furniture, beds, sofas and also televisions and Internet connections to the whole town, I would make them toilets and showers, I would paint them the same color as in the movie and absolutely everything so that the city would be both modern and look exactly the same as when Edward Bloom came there for the first time and in this way I would make it either a holiday village where those houses are rented out to tourists or so that in addition to renting they can also be bought. Surely that would be really wonderful and beautiful, wouldn't it?

Great work on this video. I was at Chanute for my tech school from late July 1971 to November of same year for Airframe Repair. We were housed in these real old wooden barracks that I'm sure were built during WW 2. Great times.

Great to see you still taking vids and photos here in Blues town. There is hardly anything left of the old infirmary off New Getwell we photographed ten years ago. I think they will eventually bulldoze it all. I sometimes drive out there and check to see what is left, and there ain't much. They say that there are abandoned stacks from a Civil war era ammo plant up in Millington, TN. I have never seen it. There is an old building on Lamar Ave North of the lower loop which might be fit for your camera. It is on the left hand side as ya drive Northwest on Lamar... if ya get to Park ya passed it up. Great to see you are still at it. I still have my book that I bought from ya! I quit facebook in 2017, and never looked back. But I miss my friends.... like you and Amanda.

My Dad was stationed there during the Korean war. He took me there when I was a kid in the late seventys. The base was still opened and he was proud to show me around telling me of the great times he had. We drove thru many years later but didn't see White hall in this condition. What a disgrace, glad he didn't see it this way.

I went there right after boot camp in March '81 for non-destructive inspection (NDI). Sadly, I don't remember much about anything and watch alot of Chanute videos hoping to bring back some memories but they're not helping my tired mind. I vaguely remember marching early in the morning near a big hanger to go to class.......Can anyone tell me if White Hall is where I marched to for class? The one picture that has the dome roof makes me think that I marched into that area and then fell out of attention to go to class. Or maybe not
