@@tidalflatzoutdoors3516 to be honest, they are both light weight and solid, but I like split grip of the Old 18 rods better because they have more cushion and are slightly shorter which feel better in a kayak. Thanks for the kind words as well!

Id like to thank ya for the vid...Im wanting the get a this yak. At the end of ya vud taljing about ya pops. My pops ran away from me for 54 years of me being alive. I remember all my life, I just wanted to have a relationship with him...but he never took the time. I got tired of it all about a year and a half ago. After being told by him "he didnt care if I called him" That was the last time I ever talked to him...he died aug 11th. days ago. 😔
Sorry about the rod breaking! Hopefully they have a good replacement system. also, main reason I stopped fishing generally around those barges... just when you think you got it down, it isn't fishable!
Back in early 2017 after they tore down the old pier, I used to spearfish the six or so original cement filled corrugated metal pilings left in the water. I would routinely shoot a 50lb plus 15 fish limit every time I went. Sadly as soon as the new pier went up it became illegal to dive the pier. When it opened in early 2020 I used to fish it at night from my bay boat. I used to kill the mangroves there using cut up whitebait chum to fire them up. A lot of slot and overslot snook stage there in the spring before heading to the beaches along with the occasional cobia.
@@Bpic0518 no sir, I’m still using this without any changes. The only thing you may want to do is add so type of lubricant if you want to disassemble to store in your vehicle while you’re out fishing.
