Teardrop Trailer, Van Life and small camper camping! Small Camper tips and tricks, campground adventures and favorite gear for your van, teardrop or small camper!
I got the same one from an idea I saw from another Element owner. It comes with a thin mattress, adding a couple thick blankets on top help make it a little more comfortable so your hip pressure points are not engaged. Fits great!
I have been scouring through element setups for camping. Doing a permanent build really seems like it takes away the best part of the element, its modularity. I use mine as a truck bed allll the time. People are always floored and impressed and always leave them wanting an element when I roll up and they realize how much this thing can carry. This seems just right without compromising and unless you are doing pretty long trips this seems more than accommodating.
Thank you, it is cramped for sure when you have all your gear in it, but it really makes sense for the ease of driving, parking anywhere, sleeping, even cooking on the back.
I love the idea of being able to take everything out and use the van for its original purpose. You can always do more permanent installation if you go more often,or this way, if you wind up with a different vehicle, you can just transfer everything over to the new one.
I have this for my 5x8 Hiker Trailer. Great room, but the cinching section that attaches to the trailer is very thin material and has ripped after only using it 3 times.
Thank you for all the info. So far you are the only one on u toob to have a video out for this goal zero flex 100i panel. All the connector info is great also. Thanks again .
Hello and thank you! I just added a link in the description to a similar if not identical box on Amazon. I can't remember if I bought it on Amazon or someplace else. It's so functional and cute!
@@CampMymy Yes, but I was thinking just to transport someone else in the dron in the passanger seat. But I have something that have to be permanently push all the way to the front. I'm not sure why would I keep the front seat.
I like the wool blankets from Coalcracker Bushcraft. They are light, but warm. I use a sheet, cotton waffle blanket then a wool blanket at home. If it's colder, I add another one. Wear a wool hat at night. I have the Bushwhacker quilt that I haven't tried yet. Try the Uco candles to warm things a bit. You don't want to sleep with them going but they do put off heat, especially the three candle ones.
Kerosene lamps and lanterns also put out a good amount of heat. Might be another option. If it ever gets cold again, I might test how well the candles do.
Hi! I had the right link in the description but I see now it only has the longer version. You will want the 69" version. I would search on Google and see if the 69" pops up somewhere. I will add a link if I can find one.
It is a cute and practical concept for anyone that just maybe isn't comfortable with tents or needs something for a night or two. I would feel a bit more secure in this than a tent.
You should take a look at the Nucamp T@G teardrop. It is a fully functional teardrop with a kitchen, heat, A/C, 2 doors and only a couple thousand more in price. This I would equate to sleeping in the back of my car, which I also do quite often lol. Vistabule is great quality, I personally just would not love crawling out of the back every time.
@@CampMymyyeah, the nucamp would probably be my second choice. Though, I'm going to need something a bit more compact, less weight in the future. I already have camp stove and such things. Do I'm probably going to go with a 10' Hiker Traiiler. I can configure a kitchen in the back. I can also get a 270° awning and panels later. It costs less than this Vestibule too. The Nucamp is way out of my price range. I think I can get everything I need or want except for the bathroom that the Nucamp has for half the price. Including Starlink and solar power.
Thanks for the video. Nice to see it done before trying it myself. Question: In my Pahaque 5 x 7 in each corner about 4 feet off the floor there are 6 inch elastic loops with a small black hook on the ends. Do you know the purpose of these elastic straps? It's not obvious to me.
WTF, sorry for the expletive. Your response was lightening quick, much appreciated. Music blends seamlessly with the natural world. Your choice, a "banger", I'll be playing this mucho.
"is this the best camper van build ever?" No, but its a great build, though! I would suggest ventilation under the mattress so you dont get mold. Overall, its lovely and creative ☺️
Did you get a cot? I cannot find the cot in this video available anywhere and all other cots I've looked at are too long! I would love to know what bed you found!
@@CampMymy Good point. I would love (except for the price) to own a Vistabule trailer, however this thing... I guess if I'm camping in bear country, maybe this is the model to have (thus keeping the camp kitchen inside the SUV.. Hmmm... is there is Vistabule branded and designed camp kitchen for my SUV ..and would it cost too much..?).
@@ccscomments757 I would love this. It is beautiful, and it feels much more open than most teardrops. I also like the weight, the tongue weight, the ability to see through the trailer when driving, and the price. I have a pull-out kitchen in my current square drop, but I would just as soon keep the food and food smells away from where I sleep.
Brilliant. I have been trying to imagine a thing like this for several years. This is so thoughtfully designed. I particularly love the fold down for hauling wood, the bokie rack attachment, ane a place for STICKERS!!!!
I'm planning to camp in my Element during a two week road trip soon. I am not up for the extensive building that I have seen others do. This set up is so simple and useful. Thank you for sharing! Happy travels!
Never thought about sleeping with woolen sox on. Somebody once suggested to have a hot water bottle in your sleeping bag. Or one of those rubber water bladders. Finally I came across a vid about a guy who made a candle heater. Here is the link if you are interested. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6ZnayOUQN28.html
Hey @campmymy I have this same bed however the end towards the passenger seat doesn't extend all the way out due to the middle glove compartment sticking oui. are you having the same issues?
Hi! Personally I use the mattress that comes with it and sleep just fine, I know a lot of people use memory foam. I do have a long piece of that “rubber” shelf liner under the mattress to keep it from sliding around.
Great tips. I have a heavy duty wool blanket and it's kept me nice and warm, along with a comforter and my furry baby 🐕, in 27° tent camping! Even in my tent I vent the windows to minimize condensation.
This is a pretty cool product, and we just bought one two days ago. The evening after buying this product, we found that one of the pols' elastic chord had been broken at one end and the segments of one of the longer poles would not stay together. So, after some work, we were able to tie a small nylon chord to both ends of the broken elastic chord. We contacted Kelty and got a huge argument from them about replacing the pole under warranty. They gave us zero options until I threatened to review them negatively on the internet. They then told me to destroy the shelter (cut it up and break the poles) and send pictures that we destroyed it, and they would send a new one. IT WAS JUST THE POLE! Why destroy the whole thing? After contacting a customer service (CS) manager, the CS rep offered to replace just the pole, but asked for a proof of purchase (which we had already sent them) along with pictures of the damage. Unfortunately, we didn't take pictures of the damage before we tried our own repair. Now, the damage is hidden in the pole segment and we would have had to break it to get to the damage to take a picture. So, we'll just wait for it to break again. Not sure I would purchase another Kelty product after this CS experience.
