Rough bumpy roads, property crime, car break ins, slow police response, average to below average restaurants, shopping sucks, capital of Mexico, traffic, ghetto attitude drivers, over priced houses and rents, poor school rating, dirty streets, poor city services (lack of response). Still want to move there?
El Cerrito is also very conveniently located to various walking/hiking trails: Pt. Isabel, Canyon Trail Park, Albany Bulb, Tilden, Wildcat Canyon, Blake Gardens, etc. It's also so accessible to Marin via the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge (Pt .Reyes trails!). And there's the Ranch 99 Mall for Asian groceries & eateries.
These aren't the top three neighborhoods, she just says that because that's where she wants to sell real estate. She chose not to mention Rockridge or Upper Rockridge. She ought to know better.
Daughter lives and works in San Leandro! She has a solid university education, a master's degree and a well paying job, so she can afford it! However, she loves to travel around the world and who knows where she'll end up! She may decide to move away if the economy warrants it!

I live in Albany, CA. Stay away. Tons of crime, horrible, some violent, but all minimized and covered up to maintain the mythology about Albany, Berkeley, CA. People started a fire at the Albany Target in the morning when people were in the story in order to create distract from their robbing the building. This event closed the Target for weeks. Yet, nothing in the daily paper. Someone drove a car into the CVS in Albany to rob the place. Someone drove a car into my office building in Albany a few days ago to rob the buildlng. Nothing in the papers. A bunch of teens were robbed at gunpoint in the local park and almost killed. Nothing in the paper. Widespread robbery on Pierce St and around Solano Avenue. It's a filthy, unsafe, and ridiculously expensive place to live. Move somewhere nice and raise your children the proper way, not in filth and depravity.

I lived in albany my whole life and I can confirm that crime is very low I’ve never seen a crime take place in albany except for the incident at Toyota recently.
I don't want to get robbed. Berkeley is right next to Oakland. Once all the businesses in Oakland leave, the robbers (and you know what people I'm talking about) will migrate to Berkeley and rob Berkeley.
I used to live Alameda island for 4yrs and there are some major Cons about it. My landlady was so greedy every year she raised my rent $150, parking is really tough to find, Cost of Living is expensive, and not so military-friendly. Hence, I moved to San Antonio, TX and Im loving life, sex is much greater (choices are abundant and different), people are friendly, cheaper, and lots of things to do. My depression DROPPED significantly since moving to San Antonio. ❤❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Regarding the beach area right off westline drive and the start of shoreline drive, thats where the wind surfing business is located, not sure where you get the kayaking info from but i dont remember even once seeing a kayak along the beach. What about crime rates, I’m from small town in Virginia called Blacksburg and will go to UCB for PhD program. I’m kinda terrified by the crime rates showed up online around Berkeley. Is it really that bad?
UCB is near Oakland so you see interesting people around sometimes. Just stay off your phone and be aware of your surroundings as you should in any urban area. Then you should be fine.
Yes, it is that bad. It's even worse. You would be making a huge mistake to move to Albany, to Berkeley, or anywhere around here. All of the crime is covered up to maintain the mythology about the area and people's real estate values. I am here and pray to God every night to find a way out of here. Widespread crime everywhere, in broad daylight: shoplifting, robberies of moms on the street walking their kids, drive by shootings on the freeways. It's a preview of hell. And filth, tent cities, and consequently an angry and mistrustful populace.
I am 73 and grew up in Alameda . Loved it during the 1960 ‘s . I moved away and could never move back because of the cost . If I could I would move back in a second . I’ve lived in a lot of of cities and Alameda is the best .
Oakland isn't a safe place to live. Very high crime city. Can't find decent parking, can't really have a decent walk without being harass. Pathetic city. I can't stand Oakland.
Hey kid, do you think it's different anywhere in America, or the world for that matter? Prices will keep going up forever... everyone wanting more than they need. My mom told me a story about getting an orange in her Christmas stocking one year and being thrilled with it. When you were a kid living with your parents there were people living around you that were thinking the exact same thing you are. Now that you're an adult and having to pay your own bills, is quite the eye-opener isn't it? Cable TV, internet, unlimited cell phone, entertainment, meals out, a car, yearly vacations, new clothes, how much do you spend on cosmetics each month? If all these things are *necessities* to you maybe you should be looking at the cost of living in Alabama or Mississippi because it's only going to get worse.
Stay away from Bayside Commons in Albany on Pierce St. The HOA president and his wife are mentally ill tyrants, seriously. Also, though the police do patrol, property crime is bad here. These two people are not being honest about that.
Beautiful video 👍But on the topic itself, you could NOT pay me to live in the city of Oakland, let alone take out a mortgage to buy a home there in 2023 post pandemic. You need to update this video with the crime and other issues that are taking place in Oakland as it would be a disservice to potential buyers that are coming from out of state and have no idea what is taking place. Thanks so much for watching, and it’s always helpful to have folks who are Bay Area locals (or who have lived in Oakland) contribute for the benefit of others, especially those out-of-towners you mentioned who do not yet have “Bay Area goggles” on. I do have a more updated video about “the worst things about living in Oakland” that speaks to some of the issues you have mentioned here. It is disheartening to NOT see positive changes from the relatively higher property taxes we pay (base rate + special assessments), sales tax, development impact fees, other $$$ that supposedly goes to city infrastructure and redevelopment. A struggling economy means higher crime across the board, Oakland is expansive, and while news tends to highlight the negative, numerous topics about the history of Oakland and its current state should be explored in other videos.
