whats the deal with this comment section? like all the stooges/iggy pop fans getting all pissy about this cover? why can two versions of a good song not exist at once and both be good, (if not great..if not amazing)? that this cover exists is a weird ass reason to be in these comments all mad adn talking about how these guys or nick cave specifically sucks (when you 1000% know t hats untrue/incorrect: both the birthday party and nc+tbs are objectively good).... in fact ive seen this exact phenomenon in the comment section of the cover swans did of Love will tear us apart. bunch of joy division fans all triggered that the cover existed or rather that any one would dare cover a joy division song..like it was blasphemous....and as someone w ho was an insanely dedicated joy division fan.for years, before i liked swans i still could not understand the anger they had towards that.cover. like id totally understand, if the song had been covered by like panic at the disco or some other absolute garbage fucking band but that wasnt the case. in fact it should be seen as a compliment, to make a cover of someone elses song is actuallly such a positive thing because it really shows you how much the artist doing the cover loves/appreciates/etc the artist being covered
I stick it deep inside. Cos I am straight from hell . Cos I m loose. Pure genuis . The band were so tight live . And that's hard to achieve n they made it look effortless. Totally raw n fully skilled . So young . There will never be a band as totally unique. As they were.. and I glad I was there. Often . I d come home deaf n battered from the .Mosh pit.. sub genuis .
Saw the BP live several times 82-83 you needed to see them live to truly appreciate them, like no other band I've ever seen their music assaulted you and drilled you're brain out. Genius primal rock n roll.
I once came home from a night out, put this on and was going mental in my flat. My neighbour knocked on the door and punched my in the face for waking him.
You are saying that because Bono starts riffing on House of the rising sun on the u2 green day cover..it is nothing at all like the animals..this Skids song is a true original punk classic
“We tried as a band on numerous occasions to do something as good as Into The Valley. Stuart Adamson’s guitar playing left me feeling wholly inadequate. He had a big influence on me.” [The Edge]
GREAT COVER!! I agree that The Birthday Party is Cave's best work since his most recent stuff that he has been doing with Warren Ellis from The Dirty Three(one of THE finest bands to ever come out of Australia...next to AC/DC if course). I do agree with a few of these comments in that The Bad Seeds were flaccid AT BEST. However, with all of that said...I think as cliche' as it may sound, Search and Destroy is the Stooges best song...and I gotta say that the Addolecsants version of I GOT A RUGHT is BY FAR the BEST Stooges cover next to Sonic Youth doing I Wanna Be Your Dog.
i don't think BP can be understood without taking into the picture the fact that they lived in Germany and were deeply affected by it: the sound is like merging rock with expressionism
