Hi I'm Dave and I am a multi species angler and LOVE to go Fishing and Live my life Outdoors so if you like Fishing, Camping, DIY, Adventure's or just plain Exploring new things hit that SUBSCRIBE button and come along for the ride!!!
I've had sheephead on Green Bay straighten my hooks like that! But what a blast! Yah definitely when catching kitties on light line it will need to be replaced! They do whatever they can to get off and in doing so they destroy your line!
Yes stop saying "should I keep one of these next time and cook it" and do it already! They're not that bad. My daughter made me keep one once and it was as good as the bluegills we had that night! Just like a white bass, remove all the fatty tissue on the meat and they're as good as walleye!
Awesome video. It was wonderful speaking with you and exchanging catfish stories the day you captured this content. My first (and probably last) time on a RU-vid video. Ended the day with 4 jumbo Perch and 6 large Bluegill. All spawned out. An amazing day in God’s creation. Thanks again for chatting. God Bless!
Larry Smith outdoors did a cooking video last summer maybe. He cooked sheep head and Walley then gave them to his office neighbors for a blind testing and they all said the sheep head were better.
Walleyes and Smallies....sounds good to me! And some bonus crappie, gills, and other fish? Even better! My record is 9 species in one spot in 3 hours. Looks like you got either close to that, or you did! I think you have gotten that many before, somewhere?
@@DWSOutdoors Thanks for the quick response Dave, That's good to hear, I will place an order with Baffin. It sure pays to look after good equipment. Thanks again, Jake
I always vary my retrieve till I figure out what they want? Sometimes they want something swimming slow and other times it's kinda jigging motion or twitching slowly in.
Frog is about your only option in that heavy of cover. You could fish a buzzbait or whopper plopper around the edges. Or you could try punching/flipping the pads. Use your frog set up with a pegged 3/4 oz tungsten sinker, heavy flipping hook and t-rig a creature bait of your choice. Pitch into the thickest pads, yoyo the bait a couple times and wait for the thump. It's a reaction bite so the more pitches you make the better as you're trying to land on their heads. Fun way to fish!
As an avid fisherman who loves to eat what I catch, a fish is a fish. We have no issues with eating a bluegill, so why is a creek chub taboo? Chubs aren't suckers and bottom feeders. They have a large mouth to eat other fish. However, since they're classified as "minnows and carps", and in a creek, they're automatically relegated to the "trash fish" category. In a SHTF scenario, these fish will be a lifesaver. Eat the weeds because so many are delicious and nutritional, and eat the BAIT when you have to!
I go for bass mostly but get bitten off by alot by big pike. Mid 30 inches. So you think 60 lb flourocarbon would be good for a hard hookset and tight drag with pike? I Use wire but they dont bite that at all barely, neither do bass.
@@DWSOutdoors Awesome, appreciate that ! The pike only hit when I'm going for bass with light flouro or braid. Once I toss my baitcaster with 40 lb braid and a wire leader, I literally can't get anything to hit lol.
If you ever want to stay light but still use a wire leader you could learn how to crimp your own leader with 7 Strand like this 👇🏻 and you'll get better action out of your lures! amzn.to/4eEfioz
That was some thick pads! I used to fish a lake up north that had lots of lily pads but they weren't that thick. A Tiny Torpedo caught me HUNDREDS of bass on that lake!
Love Frog Fishing! But when 90% of my fishing is the Mississippi River it is either frog or swim jig. If I get open water (rare) then top water is a poper or spook. Under surface a Chatter bait or spinner bait
Here is the playlist you'll want to start at the beginning if you would like to see the evolution of the channel! Mind you there are 693 videos and counting! 🤣 ru-vid.com/group/PLe6aPKagvISCy2A5_PqBdv6aQjdgIYpCI&si=TwXLyT2_Bp0cEYUa
