This is amazing! Hoping to do the same VERY soon. Do you find it difficult to find free camp spots? I've been doing some research and have come across many people saying its mostly paid campgrounds.
@@soulfulwandering oh there’s basically no camping on island. I think there’s maybe 3 campgrounds with single digit spots. Of course, I just street park wherever feels safe and is free. Being such a populous island, finding parking can be tough.
The other islands are best for van life. Hope you enjoy Oahu. Live it up man. If you ever need to know, right now, is one of the best times of your life. Trust me.. Go do it!
You live in Hawaii, get + 40 foot polyester sail yacht from the 80's. Those should be cheap in rough shape. - you can anchor anywhere. - you can stand up in 40 feet - you can sail to mainland - it is a lot cooler on the water - and it nice and quiet on the water ALL your problems solved. ps. love your p.i. Magnum mustache.
@@bryleydalton I have actually lived on a sailboat for a few years, I still have it. If I didn't live in the Netherlands I would probably try to sell it to you. Anyway, if you are interested in buying a boat. go to the cheaper back water harbors and look for a boat that is clearly lacking maintenance for a few years. A boat is great if you use it all the time. It is horrible if you don't, believe me, I know, I have one. If it has rained a lot you have to check if it flushed out the water, if there is a storm you have to go there to check the lines. The battery is always flat. Anyway, try to find the owner of such a boat. I know people who did and got the boat for free. I would ask 5000 for mine but would be willing to go a lot lower. There are insane differences in prices depending on location. Hawaii might be expensive, but you could also try the mainland. And leave wooden boats alone, unless you are some sort of magical wood worker. Polyester is almost trouble free, easy to fix. Steel is fine too but welding skills are probably necessary. If you are capable of some basic sailing, you should be fine near the coast. An extra person would make it a lot easier. However if you cross the Ocean you do need an experienced sailor! Good thing they are the types of persons that like a challenge.
@@vanlifeadjustments I don’t go up there too much these days, as I’ve spent months and months on north shore previously. I do know that when I go up there, I see loads of vans gathered together off certain streets. Seemingly the perfect camper van surfer lifestyle.
Street parking is crazy, I can't even find parking where I live. I have to walk and park 2 blocks over, cause there is 1 free spot everyone in the neighborhood fights for
@@bryleydalton maybe somehow you could find someone in a residential area who would rent out an extra parking spot to you. My neighbor did that once with another neighbor in my neighborhood
@@NormalPersonActivities I wouldn’t say it ever got too sketchy. Sure, there were some muddy sections and parts with ropes if needed. It was more so just an achievement due to the length and elevation.
@@matthewowen1360 I’d like to again. I’ve done it years ago, but did not get any video. Thus far, them actually enforcing the increased fines and even arrests has kept me away.
@@mikeoxlong5843 I’ve done it previously. Most of these hikes I do risk trespassing fines, but they are SERIOUS when it comes to stairway and giving fines or even little arrests.
Strong work, Bryley! Amazing hike/climb... Stunning views... Well done! Please stay safe -- really glad to see you've got a good hiking buddy. Have a blast... and let me know when you're ready to tackle Kauai - I've got a few recommendations. -Uncle Rob
nice views. I tried that hike this past weekend. I too got twisted on which trails were which! LoL. AllTrails wasn't much help. Ended up like you, wandering til I was ready to grab food.
