I think she loved angel so much, that she couldn't stand the idea of giving into feelings[passion, or real ❤❤again]for spike. . I think that's why she was sooo brutal to spike.
The which gave back the soul to Angel. Spike went to search his soul, he fought to have it back! In the end, Spike is better than Angel! And all treated him so bad, always!🥺❤️
Whatever truth, whatever law, whatever power we think we discover, deduce or invent, love will demolish all. How does a campy TV show get at what scientists, philosophers and artists all miss?
Every line in this video is something that Buffy Summers carried inside her for the entirety of the show. “You’ve carried the weight of the world on your shoulders since high school. I know you didn’t ask for this, but you do it. Everyday.” The beginning sequence where Buffy being told that who she is and how she’ll die being paired with season 1 Buffy looking in the mirror… wow. It’s a beautiful and brilliant video showing Buffy’s true experience and self reflection. “Maybe being the slayer means being too hard to love at all.” She really believed that. She really felt that at times, despite being chosen to protect the world. To show up as the slayer to Sunnydale, to her friends. “You have no idea how hard it is just being here.” She overcame the evil in Sunnydales villains, the evil in her loved ones, and most importantly the evil that she could have chosen to surrender to. She didn’t have to be a good. She chose to be. I can go on and on about the brilliance of this video because it shows what it feels like to be The Slayer. Amazing job 💛
Watching this 15 years later and the story speaks different now, awakening, spike was going through his dark night of soul, the whole series about being a chosen one and awakening, beautiful, and when Adam says about a powerful being trapped and knowing the truth, speaks to my heart ♥️
Spike yeah I know what you are too a jerk sometimes other times she could be quite nice but if you hurt my child's you hurt my Ruger child's I'm going to be pissed at you
This was absolutely amazing masterpiece tribute for My Favorite Role Played By James Masters. William Pratt was always the one for Buffy Summers. She was the one who brought out his repressed humanity that was snuffed out by Angelus’s Abusive Nature and his toxic relationship with Drusilla. It’s because of that love for Buffy he manages endure the demon trials and reclaim his soul and became a Hero.
Spike deserved so much better. His arc should have been amazing, but the writers (and mainly Whedon let's be honest) did not fully understand what they had. Spike (and to a lesser extent Dru) was a vampire without a soul who was capable of the full range of human emotions. That fact was obvious and should have at least given the Scoobies pause after they started spending more time with him. From the start he was different and that was achieved by James Marsters incredible acting. I think it was wasted potential that the writers didn't have Giles see Spike attempting to better himself and try to help him. Giles was the one who first reached out to Spike about the possibility of him becoming a good guy in season 4 and he should have still been willing to mentor Spike in season 5. The mindset that Spike isn't a person is especially egregious in season 5 because this was after Buffy's death. They saw him grieve Joyce and Buffy, protect Dawn, and he helped them all summer. If he truly was the emotionless 'thing' the Scoobies insisted he was, Spike would not have stayed after the object of his obsession was gone. When Spike was trying to help Buffy in season 6, he was doing it through a warped perspective. He is 100+ years old and a demon. He was taught by Angelus and spent most of his life with Dru, so of course his advice wasn't going to be the best from a human's perspective but at least he tried to help the best he could. The worst crime done to Spike's character was Seeing Red. In season 6 we see Spike clearly being abused. Regardless of Buffy's depression, she has no right to hurt ANYONE like that. The fact that Spike told her to take it out on him tells me that he has been abused before, because anyone who has not been abused would not say that. I like to think that had the writers realized this then they would not have written the bathroom scene. That plot point was obviously forced because Buffy has been able to walk of worse injuries in other episodes. It is also dangerous to write a scene where an abuse victim retaliates against their abuser with more abuse. That gives the unconscious message that the victim deserved their abuse. By having Spike commit an arguably worse act of abuse to Buffy it effectively erases her of any consequences. (Although I would like to add that Buffy did SA Spike in Gone because she did not immediately identify herself before removing his clothes and Spike was seen panicking before he recognized her. The difference between the scenes in Gone and Seeing Red, Gone's scene is lighthearted and Seeing Red's was taken completely seriously. Another example of male SA being played for as a joke.) By not giving their male assault victim justice and turning him into the abuser, the writers gave the message that men deserve to be assaulted. This act of carelessness in regards to Spike's character and arc is wholly indefensible. The writers blatantly told the audience that Spike did not deserve justice because he ‘wasn't a real person’ (even though he clearly was) and that Buffy deserved justice because she's the main character and also a woman. I believe that Seeing Red was written like that was because the writer's (especially Whedon) wanted Spike to get his soul back and this was the idea they went with. The problem is that SA is a very sensitive topic that the writers already showed they did not fully understand. Angel groomed and SA Buffy because she was a minor during the majority of their relationship; Xander didn't tell Buffy that he remembered the hyena incident and Giles helped him cover it up without asking follow up questions; Xander love spelling the town was an act of mind SA. These instances are proof to me that the writers did not fully understand what SA is. It is dangerous to write about SA without having a full understanding of what it is. Darker themes like this are so easily messed up due to poor understanding and that perpetuates harmful myths. The bathroom scene erases Buffy's abuse of Spike from the minds of some fans and that is wrong. A writer with an understanding of abuse would not have had Spike do that. It sets the dangerous precedent that male assault victims deserve it because they were bound to assault someone anyway. If Spike were a woman and Buffy a man, the bathroom scene would not exist.
Eyooo that was WELL FREAKING SAID!! * standing ovation * Yes, that's why Seeing Red never felt realistic to me. SA is about power, usually, right? Well, it's very well established that Buffy has all the power, holds all the cards. He is never once stronger than her, "I do beat him up a lot." Even his words in that scene... he's _...begging_ for her to recognize him. It's all sort of upside-down to me. You explained it PERFECTLY.
Wowwwww 👏🏾this was a very good response. I’m blown away by your critique of the abuse Spike endured was forced to be over shadowed by a crappy scene that then makes him the far worst abuser. And because he is a man what he did will always over shadow what Buffy does. But if we saw Buffy getting beat to a pulp like she did to him in Dead Things, that would have been taking so much more serious. As if men are supposed to deserve that treatment just because they are males. The writers found a disrespectful way to not only hurt Spike’s character but also Buffy’s for no reason. They wanted fans to hate Spike even more cause nothing else was working so they violate Buffy just to get the hate. Any abuse should be taken seriously and and yet one was overshadowed more due to gender roles. But not sure if you knew this but you know the AR scene was actually from one of the female writers on the show. She was actually Spike and tried to rape her ex boyfriend out of desperation. She thought if they could have sex again he would realize he still loved her. At least that is what I have read.
@@JhadeSagrav I also could see the desperation on his face, but the idea for that scene came from one of the female writers on the show. She was actually Spike in a situation with her ex she tried to force herself on him hoping that would make him see that they were still in love… but no one would look at that situation and say it’s the same as the Spike attacking Buffy due to gender roles. Pretty sad they couldn’t see what a gold mine they had with their love story.. they didn’t have to go the route of trying to make more fans hate him instead of giving the heroine of the story what she truly deserved.. which in my opinion was Spike , who he truly was and how true he could love someone is so rare. A soulless vampire who then gets his soul for the woman he loves. And this video gives a clear picture why he was truly the man she deserved to love her.
Thank you for this one too. I didn't know i needed this. It still proves that this series touches my heart far more than most series / movies and i learned from this series far more than i would ever openly admit, thanks for reminding me on that. Keeping this one too ^___^.
The last time i was looking for Buffy music videos was like 18 years ago because i could not let go of the series so easily because the series helped me getting through some very dark times. I still have 2 very old music videos from that time back then. Never would i have thought that i watch a "new" buffy music video ever again but this is amazing ! Thank you, i'm keeping this one too, it shall never be forgotten for as long as i live ^___^.
I have 2 cds of the Buffy soundtrack if you want them! They are awesome and some of the tracks really take you back to a particular scene! I’m getting rid of all cds at the mo, so you are very welcome to them if you want them!
Relationship Buffy and Spike developed so long but they are perfect couple, they grow together, helping each other to be better. Their love is amazing, emotional and real.
This is powerful and I love the choices of scenes, love the edit. I don't want to criticize, but even though I know the dialogue by heart, I find the music too loud and it drowns out the dialogue. I know the balance is hard to get right. I still love the edit choices though.
@@claremiddle-w3x both of those relation ships are cool in their own way, but they are also inherently doomed. you can't have a life long relationship with a vampire unless you are dying next week, that why its all drama and sadness. Willow got a little toxic too, but for a while they were perfect
@@claremiddle-w3x those are straight couples and the lead actors. Well Buffy was. They got talked about all the time! I don't hear people talking about Willow and Tara so this is nice for a change! They had the sweetest relationship. This is my favourite relationship in the show ☺️
Angel had a curse on him which forced a soul on him but spike actually fought to gain his soul which proves he had more good in him then Buffy ever gave him credit for so it's kind of sad that the writers didn't give them a chance for a real romance which would have been more interesting seeing how Angel was only really in 1 or 2 seasons and left
Spike gained his soul after he tried to rape Buffy to prove to her that he had changed . Spike Killed two innocent slayers & he turned innocent people into vampires & in another dimension he turned innocent Willow & Xander into vampires . Buffy as a grown woman that had attended college always thought about marrying angel cause her heart & soul belong to Angel .
Angel left to protect Buffy from his lust for her which would bring back soulless Angelus. The demon that is in all vampires rules with unintended consequences. Yes I in many ways believe William the Bloody proved to be more valiant but still it was Buffy lust until he got his soul. He could only have become the Champion w/ a soul. The writers transfigured him into the Angel series to keep his character growing. Super hilarious Spangel ensued! Plus a ratings boost for Angel. Wesley & Cordelia also became part of that cast.
Spike’s mother as a vampire saw William /Spike as a sentimental fool even as vampire. One thing about Spike is he saw truth for what it is. I think he inherited this from his mother, even as a vampire. Yes Spike was a monster but he loved and this was the imprint of William’s humanity in him. I guess that’s why they called the episode Fool for Love in season 5. It was only when Spike got his soul that his love for Buffy turned from obsessive to selfless. He did love her selflessly as a vamp but it was always over shadowed in his pursuit to overtake her pre-soul. I loved how it ended with him being the Chosen one to save her. However, he didn’t just save her with his sacrifice, he set her free from being the only chosen slayer. This was such a beautiful ending given he was not able to save her at the end of Season 5 (though in his mind he saved her every night in different ways). So I feel their love story, though more tragic in outcome, was also poignant and beautiful. Buffy’s death was a pivotal point in Spike redemption arc where the fight between his humanity and demon side became more evident pushing him ultimately to get soul after he attacked her. He realized as long as he remained a demon, he had the propensity to hurt her. The human side of him could not handle this driving him to seek out soil and become the man she deserved.
@lioking4093 it's frankly interesting how you refer to the slayers as innocent when it's frankly clear that the moral complexity of the dynamic is much more complex. Slayers are part demon. Vampires are part human. We've been shown that demons have sliding scale of morality and the Slayers do not account for that. It is much more likely that the Watchers Council and the Slayer Ignore the ambiguous nature of the demon races so Their Morals don't get in the way and stay Black and White as to not have to think about it. They aren’t innocent. That doesn't mean they're bad, but to act as if we don't meet decent demons within the narrative ignores that they do exist. As Spike said "I was a vampire and she was the slayer." Regarding Nikki, it's the way of things and what's done. The hunter and the hunted. Demons and Vampires fear and love just as slayers do. Slayers kill just as demons do. Innocence is irrelevant.
