I'm just a guy from the North East of England who loves New York City! Although I've visited New York a good few times over the years, I only began vlogging in March 2017 and will vlog every trip from now on. I'm an old-school style vlogger so don't expect anything fancy within my videos! Lol Stay tuned because I will be back in New York City every chance I get making more videos! Links to my first book and my website can be found below, please feel free to check them both out. Thanks for dropping by!

There used to be a penthouse on the top floor, not sure if that’s still the case or not. Sadly there’s no public access, apart from the ground floor, so I couldn’t investigate any further! Lol
It would've been nice if you could've gone upstairs. Is the entire building just businesses? Are there any residential apartments/condo's upstairs? I bet it's expensive?
I would have loved a look upstairs but there was no way they were letting me up there! Lol There was a penthouse built on the top floor originally, and I think it might still be there, but other than that the whole building is business and offices. A lot of the stores on the ground floor don’t seem to last very long, I assume that’s because the rent must be so high. Shame, there used to be a nice tea shop at one point!
@@stevetaylormynewyorkcity9728 If the rent is so high that means less and less businesses will partake in that endeavor leaving this great building an empty hulk of nothing.
Hey John! Thanks so much man, I really appreciate that. I feel that RU-vid has completely stagnated this year (certainly for me), so I’ve been posting loads on TikTok instead. My channel has really taken off there so that’s getting my attention right now. Don’t know if you have TikTok, but my user name is stevenyc67 if you do….!
@@stevetaylormynewyorkcity9728 Great to hear you're still out there! I actually have never used TikTok, but I've downloaded it just to follow your adventures :-)
Quite sad that the plaque has gone walkies,it would have been better to place it up high,I hope its replaced in memory of all the music publishers and songwriters who helped bring music to the world, thanks for sharing .
I totally agree, there should certainly be a permanent plaque in place. I’m gonna go have another look when I’m back in September, see if they’ve sorted it yet!
@@stevetaylormynewyorkcity9728 not bad thanks mate , working nights still the usual..been out and about , saving up on my travel card in dollars and that , still way off till I go nyc but will get there..thinking about doing a European football ground in a few months , weekend thing with a co worker
Yeah mate. I was there for 17 nights last November/December, then back again for a few nights in May this year. I’m back again in September this year for 11 nights.
Always makes my day to see you in New York, mate - hoping to get out there ourselves in the spring 🤞🏻. I love that you keep a book of notes with you, I think it's the first time you've mentioned it! I did the same when I was prepping for my Equalizer shooting locations pilgrimage! Always feels like there's so much there to see and do, and always on borrowed time :-)
Thanks so much John, I really appreciate that. Yeah I always make notes before a trip and try to organise them into days to spend in different areas of the city/boroughs, usually areas that are new to me. It helps to be organised when there’s so much to do! Lol I’ve got a few more to upload before my next trip in September, I’m staying in Queens for that trip and I have quite a bit planned already! Thanks again buddy, it’s comments like yours that make it all worth while!
@@stevetaylormynewyorkcity9728 Not at all, thanks for uploading them! I remember I discovered your channel when I was searching RU-vid for a place in China Town - it turns out you were staying in the hotel where something from the Equalizer was filmed :-). I bet that was a few years ago now! Speaking of which - we've stayed at the same hotel both times we've been (Hotel Metro, very near the Empire State), but it's gone now (well, it's changed hands and changed names), so we potentially need to find a new midtown hotel for our 2023 visit. If you've any suggestions, I'd be all ears! Take care 👍🏻
@@TraineeTeacherSupport yeah I remember you telling me about your research, that was a few years ago! Lol Most hotels in NYC are out of my price range now, I tend to use AIRB&B these days, and usually stay in Brooklyn (Queens next time though!), but Row NYC was always a pretty decent place to stay if you’re looking at midtown Manhattan. It was the Milford Plaza when I stayed there years ago but I think it’s essentially the same hotel. Have a look at that or check out AIRB&B’s, you might just get a nice surprise….!
It’s a beautiful building mate, was the tallest in the city when it was built in 1902! You can go in the lobby on the ground floor but you can’t go any higher, unfortunately!
Yeah will give it a go I’m gonna do literally as much as possible spend all my days out and obv at night to see some if the lights and everything plus will be close to Times Square, also if possible want to relax one of the days somewhere like centre park or the harbour to break it up , just hope to not get lost I’ve got these map apps and things already on me phone, only thing is o can’t see myself being out like after late hours on my own so prob going to be out early for breakfast then out all day and evening
The apps will certainly help you but it’s really easy to navigate Manhattan north of Houston Street, downtown. The avenues run up and down (north and south) and the streets run across (east and west). This is the famous grid system. South of Houston it’s not quite as easy but the more time you spend down there the more you learn the streets. The street layout is more European in Lower Manhattan but still pretty easy to find your way around.
Sounds good mate deffo , you’ll have to let me know if your going back some day , I’m gonna book the attractions pass thing also probs for the weeks it’s not to bad for that 5 nights for the price
Thanks a lot mate I’m from Liverpool so hopefully they get my accent too haha , your video was good I literally came across it tonight on my night shift
@@mikeyoakesTrfc no problem mate, very happy to help. Aye you should be ok with your accent, might have to talk a bit slower than usual mind! Ha ha (check out some of my other videos if you’re looking for ideas for things to do when you’re in town! 😉)
@@mikeyoakesTrfc going solo is definitely the best way to do it, you can make your own itinerary and change your mind every ten minutes if you want (like I do!) lol Feel free to get in touch if you want any advice on your plans, happy to help buddy.
