This was mid 80s to mid 90s And DS not touching you. In the 80s that was not true. But by 91 this had changed. Also, depending where you did Army Basic. If your DS was trained at Ft Leonardwood. You called then Sargent and not Drill Sargent. Ft Sam houston uses The FT LEONARDWOOD DS school. As does others. But many other places use Drill Sargent.
