It took a second watch for me to see clearly the mistake but now I’m understanding! I’ve made my fair share of mistakes and my rig is far,far simpler in dynamics than yours! Appreciate you don’t mind sharing your learning moments along with big accomplishments 👍
@@ryanchenoweth5673 Well, yes, I see a lot of people who use leverage, some will realize it when their seat ends up in 2 parts... In a couple of months I'm going to make my double tensioner, with 2 Nema23, and it will be placed on the back of the seat, independent of the chassis, although, whoever developed it is doing it wrong, from my point of view... watch this video... video - Belt tensionner experiment, reworked design -
@ryanchenoweth5673 gotcha. I have the seat back running "in reverse" at a very slow filtered 3 hz movement. Meaning when throttle is hit the seat tilts back to physically move your body into the seat...but not too quickly to tell your inner ear something is wrong. That tilt back head motion is then canceled out by the surge rail moving the opposite direction. So my head stays in about the same place.
While driving my car I feel the back of the seat moving on an angle with the top moving back further and nothing on the bottom. With acceleration I feel the whole seat pushing into my back quite evenly. I’m torn as to which way I’m going to built it, especially running a left and right belt tensioner 🤔
@@LionSandwich "Like the truss, a space frame is strong because of the inherent rigidity of the triangle; flexing loads (bending moments) are transmitted as tension and compression loads along the length of each strut." This is not the case in your construction.
Good point. I've moved on from these small shakers to only using 1 300watt shaker with an amp driving it @ 200 watts. So plenty of headroom mechanically for the shaker now. Seems to be performing much better than over driving the small ones to the limit.
Another accomplishment in the books with a laundry list of future upgrades/fixes to come im sure! 😅. You have a fun project on your hands! As far as I can tell Sim experiences are never finished
You have infinitely more aptitude and knowledge about these things than myself! I’m just an armchair quarterback lol. I’m absolutely fascinated by your exploration and attempts at capturing a more definitive racing experience. I have zero experience with electronics so I spend much of my time on the internet looking at videos like yours mostly just being envious 😅. Just keep up the good work! I’m certain to bug you with questions at some point!
@@LionSandwich understood! I came to sim racing from a non-racing, non-car enthusiast background but the experience I have just flat out enjoyed in a way that few things have provided. My rig is certainly fertile ground for past hobbies and interests too. It’s a really inclusive hobby for a lot of creativity. I’m starting to learn more about pc/software/devices etc but I am still often over my head! Thanks for the replies 😀
@streamallday pitch back acceleration doesn't push you into the seat very much given the lateral component of gravity on a pitch 5 degrees or less is very small, moving the seat is going to add more "feeling" to the surge. Rather than the whole car pitching....it's a local g force feeling. So goes my theory.
I actually find it now more immersive to have the surge reversed....where when you are accelerating the seat 'moves back'. But having the main surge rail, it allows the rig to move foward and the same rate of movement of your head....so it 'feels' like your are being pushed into the seat back. Cool shit.
Pretty sick. These setups are wild and I also think it's wild how some of these games seem to be a very accurate simulation. May as well race for real tho at this point lmao
@denrenvavanaardt6989 My friend races. You don't have to own a car to do so lol. And he definitely isn't rich. My uncle races bmws because he's in a BMW club and they allow you to race their cars. I think it's hilarious you guys are oblivious to things like this and how like annoyed you got over my comment when I was just trying to help the algorithm for small youtubers.
ha don't panic. It wasn't thanos4u related. My dumbass forgot about the chair behind the rig. Simple wedge...but I also had some error in the python code for braking which did glitch out and throw crazy movement commands.
Can't wait until they affix slot cars with small cameras and let you race in real-time with the view as if you were sitting in the driver's seat of the slot car. Add in a feedback rig like this, and it would almost feel like you're at the Indy 500
Yes. Tuning is still happening. It's just enough cue to let you know what the car is doing. That's the goal of the sim. Not meant to be a carnival ride.
@@LionSandwich yeah I understand, I also use shakers etc, not meant to shake the soul out of your body Just let you know what's going on, I just wasn't sure if you'd "feel' the slow movement, sick setup tho
