Expedition Homestead is all about sharing the passion of homesteading and gardening with you!
On our channel we like to cover all kinds of plants during all times of the year so we are always coming out with new gardening content! I started the channel covering only indoor plants and succulents but have since made huge expansions in our outdoor gardens and grow a ton of vegetable crops every year. Right now we have .35 acres which is not a large lot by any means but we will show you just how much can be done on such a small plot of land. Happy Gardening!!!
I decided to try this this year in 2024 and I can tell you the proof is in the pudding and it really works. I’m shocked at just how well it actually works. I will be making more rods to put into my garden.
I have stubborn mealy bugs on my pandan plant and I’ve been using neem oil, insecticidal soap but they’re still there. How often I can use neem oil? Is it once a week? Or whats the right thing to do?
Brilliant! Here in Australia the cost of food is becoming a joke. Everyone should plant their own potato's pumpkins etc saves so much money and healthier organic food
How do you make sure the sunflower bugs don't get them before harvesting? Mine were full of Itty bitty black worms, I think they are called sunflower moths
Hello, I have a fabulous weeping willow tree that I would love to take cuttings from. I live in upstate NY zone 5b. I have 3 questions-Can I take my cuttings in the fall and bring them indoors so they can be planted in the spring? If yes, once rooted in the water when should I put them into pots or should I leave them rooting in water and put them directly in the ground this spring? Thank you for your response
Do I need to thin out the leaves of my dahlias? I planted like 4 or 5 in large pots and they seem like they’re getting crowded. If I do thin out leaves, how do I do it and which do I choose to take off?
i need help i have a I have a small medical grow and it's for medicinal and medical purposes relative of mine has cancer and I'm dealing with a garden that has thrifts January bugs that are underneath the leaves and I don't believe there are mites and I don't know what to do other than diatomaceous earth neem oil and a surfactant that helps cover the leaves as a whitening agent or Yucca as well as I'm thinking about just getting rid of all the medical plans and fogging the room with a fog bomber I've been using a small amount of neem oil or a small amount of Dr Earth's insecticide soap play keep coming back if I don't treat and they keep getting on the leaves but they came from a clone from Outdoors biggest mistake I made was taking a clone from a friend and bring it in from outside the room does have a carpet as well what do you suggest they do to keep the pests down I actually heard grounding idk wtf to do sir
Great in depth video, thank you very much. I started dappled willowsTo plant across our creek along our woodline... I've never propagated, and have no clue what to do with them through the winter so this is extremely helpful!
I just can’t do this. When I look at leaves, I see the means of the plant getting energy to grow. If I take them away, it’s less energy being made for the plant. I trim off any leaves that are browning, touching the ground or any spots that are too crowded.
I have to cut one down at my fathers house. My heart was breaking as I started cutting it as my mom, who passed away 3 years ago had planted it. Then it occured to me that maybe I could propogate it and plant it at my dream house when I find it. Your video is very much appreciated, thank you SO much!
Atmos is changing. Last couple yrs of Necessary 50% Shadecloth proves full sun is just way too much, even for pepper & tomato. Desert plants. You may find your shady area much more conducive for Vegetables than you thought. Experiment w/ grow-bags you can move around & see what happens. *Dwarf Greek Oregano, Creeping Thyme (colored flower) but culinary too. Low-growers, non-invasive; mow/string-trim if needed. -- Greetings fr NE OH.
@@terryl.9302 you don’t say huh?? This has got me really curious! Thanks for the input and perhaps I build some more raised beds in the backyard this coming season too. Greetings and thank you so much for watching :)
If willows are so easy to propagate through cuttings, why would someone buy them? And not just take cuttings? Not knocking the idea, just wondering the reasoning. Love your channel, looking forward to seeing how the yard progresses. You are inspirational!

I separated mine at the root and put it into soil immediately and it did just fine!! I left two in water for weeks now and they have also done just fine!! My own little at home experiment. I will try with just the leaves next!
You’re probably going to have to get much more in depth than just dandelions. Fungi systems and sunflowers are the next best for larger areas but ultimately it’s going to take time and plant growth to pull that out from the soil
Thank you for this! I received an orchid plant on Mothers and it has just NOW lost the last bloom..Its very healthy and putting on more healthy leaves but didnt know what to help it bloom....YOU HAVE A NEW SUBSCRIBER !!!!!
Did you check for root mealy? Root mealy bugs love succulents and cacti. How would you treat root mealy? By the time I notice it the plant pretty much terminal.
Look around in late summer for plants growing around parking lots, sidewalks, or roads. Also can find them on the boarders of neglected gardens. The little seed pods are almost cone shaped and brown, they hold a ton of little seeds
