Does this method work the same if you have the internal Superdrive installed and working? For example: I have a Macbook Pro 2011 - A1286 and the internal CD reader works perfectly, but I wanted to install the USB SuperDrive, to have it enabled, in case of an emergency.
I did everything shown in the video, I have a Macbook Pro (13 inch, 2018, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports) and it keeps saying error writing. Idk why it is not working for me 😫
I got to the mbasd=1 stage and I am able to save it and pressed enter but nothing changed. I restarted my MacBook Pro but still nothing happened. My MacBook still can't recognise my CD Rom. Please what should I do?
My Airdrop option does not appear fully in the sidebar. Is there an airdrop extension fix? Macbook Pro late 2011 running Catalina 10.15.6. Please help..
Hi, so I was trying to connect my USB superdrive and I follow the directions in the description, but it didn't work. It kept saying "Error writing /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist:". What should I do? Please reply back, thank you.
hi, i can´t save the change, I press enter to confirm the file name and terminal tells me [ Error writing /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist: ] :(
It all has been said before, but it is imperative that SIP is disabled first in recovery mode. Then reboot to normal mode and edit the plist as shown in the video. Return to recovery mode to re-enable SIP (optional) reboot normally and Bob's your uncle. Tested on MacBook 2010, High Sierra. Big thanks to Tech Runner Wesley!
Hi Wesley, I just tried to follow your instructions to interface my new USB SuperDrive with my 2016 MacBook Pro. All was going as you described, but when I hit enter as the final step, I got the following message [Error writing/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist:] Not sure what to do from here. This is the first time I have ever tried to add something to the Terminal. Please advise. Thanks in advance!! Melissa
does't work to me. I followed your instruction step by step but at the end after last "enter" terminal wrote "error writing", in that case I cannot restart my machine :(
Hey, I'll help you. Firstly, grab your mac. Then go to your window. Last step: throw your mac out the window at a passing car (just to make sure it's destroyed). Hope this helped. :)
This is BS with Apple, my old DVD player did work for a long time then it quit working. I went to best buy for a new one same model number A1379 then it did not work at all. Went back to BB exchanged for another one. Same thing, nothing. Best buy guys had no idea what is wrong with it. Apple people needs fix their own problems before selling !
