I haven't picked up bass clarinet in over 30 years, but the resonance rumble feel over those lower registers coursing through you is unmistakable. it's a core memory for me and now I want to pick it back up.

Isn't that shoshtokovich wrote the Lengthiest excerpt for bass clarinet ever.?

Sure!! Wagner also likes long phrases with bass clarinet, always give a touch of mistery and depth.

@@SilviaInsaLlopis Yess, bass clarinet is so mysterious. My favorite excerpt is from Stravinsky's rite of spring, just before the sacrificial dance.

@@SilviaInsaLlopis Question, when you play louder, do you hear any shrill reedy sounds? I was wondering if that was something only the player could hear and isn’t audible in the tone everyone else hears. Everything I try to get rid of it doesn’t work, a different angle, different reed and reed size, or different mouthpiece. Is that a part of the instrument or is it fixable?

@SilviaInsaLlopis

Long phrases and breathing. Always this is more difficult than playing a thousand notes, at least for me.
