One of the worst movie scenes is when Evie yelled at Ben twice when he was looking at the old photographs when she was a little girl while he was cleaning up her house. He quickly tries to owe her an apology just before she screams at him again. There was a weird moment where she was proud of him for something that he did that made her happy. What was it that made Evie very happy? I am totally confused.
One of the shocking moments is when his mother was furious at Ben after he went out to see Evie again. When he was turning away, That's where she yelled, "Look at me when I am talking to you." So we see Ben was still ignoring her and didn't want to look at her. She finally had enough and went on to say, "Well Fine Ben, If you're not going to look at me, There is one thing that you're going to be, You're grounded for life. It means that you are never (shouting) EVER SEE THAT WOMAN AGAIN! YOU HEAR ME?" When Ben finally speaks to her as he says, "No, Mom, I don't care what you have to say, Because she's my best friend. So without in mind, I am outta here so I can see my friend Evie again as long as I live." (he was just about to leave the room until his mother stops him as she was saying, "Ben! You come back here this instant! I said you are not going to see that woman anymore because I punished you for life. Now get away from the door and sit back down because I'm not done with you)." Then it shows Ben has a cocky grin on his face because he is about to do something really bad to his mother. It cuts to where she is screaming as Ben was tying her up on his bed as he puts the duct tape over her mouth so she will not scream. Ben was all like, "Shut up Mom, Just shut up. I'm not finished with you yet. Wanna know what's next? It's your feet. That's right. Your feet are going to be taped together as I am going to cross your ankles together because I love this pose very much." (he grabs both of her feet and he crosses her ankles as he puts the duct tape over her feet). Ben will be saying, "There, I've crossed your ankles, Now I am going to have sex with you once and for all."
Did his father (played by Nicholas Farrell) had to offer an apology after they finished eating their dinner? The entire apology scene is at the 2:52 minute mark is where he had to offer an apology to his son Ben after his mother (played by Laura Linney) got really upset over the fact that he was going camping with Evie. So she refused to let Ben go. You can see the look on her face at the 2:51 minute mark. She will say this to Ben by going, (She looks at Ben very sternly) “So no, You're not going. And don’t you dare think about by asking HIM (while she was pointing at his father) that you are going camping with that woman or whatever. Let’s just relax and eat our dinner and forget about the entire thing here.” This was right after she said, “I need him here.” with her anger at his father. I was totally confused about this scene
Rupert did such a fantastic job with the few lines in this scene that I'd love to see him actually in a Shakesperian role. I definitely think he could pull it off.
to begin with, I thought it was way boring, and too christian.. But as it moved on, it was great! I really enjoyed it!.. Of course Rupert is a plus, and actually the only reason I watched it, to begin with.. But I liked the meaning of it, and I thought the bon between Ben and Evie, was very sweet <3
