Checkmates is a nonprofit association that works tirelessly to raise funds and awareness for many underfunded and often overlooked chronic and potentially fatal diseases. Checkmates has a particular interest in the funding and the promoting of awareness in the fight against gastrointestinal diseases; including, but not limited to Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease. Our CEO, Justin Mirigliani was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in December of 2002 and has been battling to keep the disease at bay since that time. One goal of this organization is to do whatever is possible to make others aware of how these diseases silently disrupt and/or decimate lives, and in doing so, appeal to the compassion of others to donate money for research to end these diseases. The ultimate goal for Checkmates is to have this awareness and money lead to a cure for chronic diseases of all kinds and to finally say, “Checkmate” to chronic disease!
