Hi, I'm Marija, and I'm here to help you simplify European Portuguese. I'm not a native Portuguese speaker, and I've been teaching it since 2009. This channel brings you European Portuguese vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and various activities and tips to improve your language skills. I'm super excited to take you on this journey and help you become a fluent speaker.
A little bit about me: I am a philologist from Serbia, I studied European Portuguese at University in Belgrade and I've been teaching it since 2009 both in schools, and online.
I hope the sound of European Portuguese warms your heart as it did mine.

The title is “Listen and Learn”, I think for English speakers wanting to learn Portuguese. It is essential that as much help as possible be given to English speakers. Programmes only in Portuguese are too difficult.
Hi Maria, thank you for your lesson. With the 'S' sound in Portuguese, like in 'dois' and 'tres' I've mostly heard it pronounced like the 'S' in snake, not the soft 'sh' like you do. Is either way correct?
Hi, in the mentioned words "três, dois", the letter S NEVER makes the sound /s/ like in "snake". You may be confusing it with the Brazilian version which I don't speak and can't tell you anything more about their pronunciation, sorry. This is standard, European Portuguese pronunciation.
I really wanted to know how speak Portuguese. Especially for me a big fan of Cristiano Ronaldo. Thanks to this channel atleast i can understand basics easily since i understand Spanish.
Hahaha, good for you! Then, you may benefit more from listening to/ watching football news on Portuguese national TV. It is free and I guess Ronaldo is always in the center of their attention! :D Both radio channels and TV are free, check them out here: www.rtp.pt
