Great video! But do you have your put each effect to the each button? I mean can't you just set a whole set-up and assign it to one button? Like what if i want to switch from a chorus clean tone to a phaser/ delayed dist tone? Do i have to switch the effects one by one? Please enlighten me
You can setup snapshots so each one has a different sound. Assigning one fx to each switch is called stomp mode though technically you can assign multiple fx blocks to the same switch but that doesn't work all time if you need to double up the same fx on two different switches. That is what Snapshot mode is for.
@@DoctorMcFarlandStudios thank you for the reply. so for instance, in snapshots if i use a certain phaser pedal on a block, do i just get to use it only in one block? Sorry for the disturbance btw i just want to learn i am stuck between boss gx100 and this one for stage performances.
In a snapshot you not only can turn blocks on/off but you can also change their parameters so in snapshot 1 your have a slow phaser sound and in snapshot 2 have a fast phaser sound for example. Works with drive pedals, amp settings and anything else you want to change on the fly. My channel and many others have videos on how to do this. My older videos show how to do this on a HX Effects but the same methods and concepts apply to the Stomp XL.

Good stuff, good to see headrush adding value with updates. Before I bought mine 9 months ago the reviews were that they rarely add firmware updates, there has been 2 already so I’m happy with that. Would love to see a live mode dashboard screen, where I can monitor all my input and output levels for vocals and rigs on the same screen. Currently we have to press too many buttons to see the levels and they are only visible one input/output at a time. A mixer view would be awesome. Very satisfied with my core nevertheless. I love your idea about the levels I had the valeton gp200 before I got the core and they had the levels right on the main screen such a excellent feature I think I would rather have that than the CPU usage showing or at least having the choice to choose either or
Hi doc. A couple of questions: - how do I tweak eq to obtain a dense dark sound for playing doom metal? Any amp / cab recommendation for that genre? - is that rig “doc basics” available for downloading? Thanks man, it’s always a pleasure to watch your videos 👊🏻🤘🏻
The Tangerine (Orange) amp would sound good for that genre. Also use an EQ to cut some extra mids like I show in this video. I have plenty of rigs on my website that you can download for a one time payment. I add to those rigs on a monthly basis.
What firmware version version are you running I have 3.2.0 I've noticed a couple of thing you have I don't I just go mine had it about a week and 2 days ago I have the Headrush Prime
Interesting tutorial 👍 Can you please do a tutorial for the Headrush Core on allocating footswitches- I use the hybrid method? - 3 switches for patches & 2 switches up n down - I don’t know how you allocate patches to the 3 middle switches hope this makes sense thanks 👍🎶
I really want that drive model for my MX5 but I'm scared to death to do the update. Last time I updated I lost all my built rigs. Saving them seemed to require a lot of hassle.

HI Craig, no setup at all. That is personal preference though. Some players like high action, low action, this or that. It should be setup for the vast majority of players though. Its really a great guitar.
I own a AXE FX III, Prime and the 15 . Used to own a Helix LT. Bought Prime this year -years after the FX and it's a great piece. Master your gear, don't focus on what they don't do.
You're getting some great sounds out of that. The synths and hybrid are really inspiring. Latency happens with most pitch effects (Lexicon PCM, Eventide, etc are the exceptions) depending on signal chain and all the adjustable parameters. Learning how sparse to play is also helpful. A full bore 6-string barre chord is not the way to use these effects to their fullest MUSICAL potential (as you demonstrated). Now I have to update my Core.
Modellers are great devices but dont get bogged down with all those micro menu screens , make music ! dont throw all your time into making daft tones , i use a preset i made for all my other tracks and just make minor adjustments to the foundation scene i created. they can really distract you from making music. it has got a bit daft so many amps so many delays reverbs etc and now we got all those IRs to boot. but i love my gigboard its very effective.
I don't know if its my guitar or what but I input all the same settings and I come out of an FRFR 112 and an LTD EC 1000 and it sounds NOTHING like this. It sounds wet and muddy. Not only for this vid but other headrush vids. Same settings and it sounds nothing like the tutorial.
Its because your guitar has active pickups and are much hotter than other pickups. You will need to have lower gain settings on the amp to get a true clean tone.
I want to be able to use my laptop to control the Prime! And I want to be able to charge you all for my amp capture! The amp! Goto my channel & listen to the video "Test This"! That's the amp I kloned! Then tell me amps don't matter! 😎
Amps are great but do you need 300 amp models/captures to be happy? Everyone hears things differently and its up to you to find what your ears what to hear. I think there is plenty of variation there to make everyone happy. The Core and Prime also have the Revalver amps and cabs that provide some extra tones.
Does it make any difference if you use the Left and right output on the floor modeler to send a separate signal to each speaker or just use one cable to connect t the floor modeler to one speaker then link the two speakers to each other?
It only matters if you have stereo fx in the rig. If you only send a Left output then its MONO and linking two speakers will still only have a MONO signal.
@@DoctorMcFarlandStudios Thank you. I'm using a Line 6 POD Go which has stereo outputs...yet I'm only playing one guitar so it's mono either way I guess lol.
@@user-os3ko9fw3c One guitar is not the issue. Having a stereo delay or reverb will give you that stereo sound if you use both XLR outputs to send to two FRFR speakers.

Looks a nice unit Is it suitable for live performance? - I play in a covers band & looking to upgrade my old Boss GT100 - just wondering if it’s strong & full enough for live work with a four piece band including a drummer thanks
The only draw back would be the number of switches and how that incorporates into your workflow. Headrush can create setlists with all the rigs you need for the gig.

Great Video, thanks. 2 questions please: Can you control the power soak of the Amp 1 with the HeadRush? Which effects sound more “ real, organic” HeadRush or HX effects to you?
Headrush can only send PC messages so it can't send CC messages to control power soak, gain etc. Both Headrush fx and Line 6 fx sound great. Line 6 has an edge on the MIDI options.
Flat response is just that. Always start with and amp or an amp mic. Then you could plug the amp into the QSC and get the full range of your sound. You don't necessarily want to get used to the sound of the Headrush. But for something on the go or to bridge the gap between guitar amp purchases then the headrush might be the way to go. But, save for a good amp with xlr outputs or an amp and an amp mic and you'd be happier.
@@gratengelsker7614 When one delay goes into another they are going to interact. Do pan delays you will need to use one of the split signal paths and put one delay on the left and the other on the right.
