The CBO has no idea what it's doing. The deficit is necessary. Whenever the deficit gets too low, the economy crashes. Revenues don't fund spending, nor do bonds. The national debt are treasury securities. The debt are savings in liquid assets that have a garounteed timed payout. It's basically the central bank's issued savings accounts. When the federal government creates an asset, it does not create an equal liability because it issues dollars to cover spending by fiat. If there are treasury securities in your investment portfolio, you are contributing to the debt.

Correct me if I am wrong Representative Renacci, but didn't you vote for passage of the December Omnibus Bill which drastically increased the debt? The House has total control over ALL spending. The Congress is more responsible for the growing National Debt than the President. So-called fiscal conservatives who voted for the Omnibus bill are no different than the Liberal spenders.

It's good to balance the budget but what about eliminating all of the federal bureaucracies and taxes that are killing our industries & eliminating our jobs?

What about the health costs directly related to the pollutants from coal furnaces used in ohio? Many families are unable to cover the long term health costs associated with exposure o these hazardous conditions.

I am a supervisor at my company who makes only $8.00/hr who is now facing a pay cut so that we can stay in business. I ask, when was the last time any representative of the american people took a pay cut to assist in balancing the budget. Most of us have to incur debt just to pay our bills without ever considering the purchase of anything for our own well being.
I will not vote for you if you support a debt increase. I hope you stand up for what is right for us all, not what is right for today and the political tides. Questions well laid out for Bernanke, I'm not sure I heard any answers - much less quick action on regulatory impact, costs, or timing of those. It seems Bernanke rarely has an answer, much less an EFFECTIVE one - nor has he ever met a regulation he will tell Congress in too expensive, too intrusive, or will not produce a good result!
