What if the dry wall has just been spackled, no paint. Do you still use the blue primer? Or first apply regular primer on the drywall before using the MBP?
Great video! I'm doing exactly this now... But I can't find where to buy the white fleece that covers the floor. In Los Angeles area. Can only find 6" strip for redgard, or large orange sheets for hardi system.
Faster dry time and better overall product with either aqua defense or hydroban. No offense, but in my part of the country, when we see redguard, we think 'craigslist hack'. Love the videos. Highly suggest swapping out the redguard. So inferior. Great work though
If you doing a lot of Epoxy Grout, you start right after grouting. If you are only doing 30 or so sqft, I would let the Grout settle for at least 10 minutes
@crestflock over polished marble yes you can use both, however before deciding I would first get a nylon scubpad from home depot they sell them at rental section there, I would preferably try the green color or white and test scrubbing the marble to make sure it doesn't scratch it. This all depends on the type of marble you have. But yes iv done epoxy on marble before. But I also know there some marble out there you can't. hope this helps
18:22 I'm a DIY Dad trying to start a shower mortar pan over a subfloor. I didn't see the pea gravel at the weep holes I keep reading about. Can you explain? Is the mortar porous enough to not need the gravel?
The motar is definitely porous so water will definitely get through however pea gravel is common practice it helps accumulate the water so it drips into weap hole and I wish I wouldn't of forgotten it for this video but believe me iv done tile 20yrs + if I forget to use pea gravel wouldn't harm it at all just would be preferable to use.
My guy… I’m just a DIY white guy but I review your video and use your strategy every time I tile. This strategy works so well, my grout always turns out /beautiful/. This grout can be challenging, if you’ve never seen this video. Not needing to reseal and maintain your grout after installation is amazing. Do you prefer using sanded grout over a masonry mortar mix? I'm guessing the sanded grout is easier to push into the joints and flows easier in the bag? Going to be filling my Mexican half brick decorative walls and just want the easiest but best method possible...thanks

@inkfusiontattooempire9172 actually if you dont know, its not a dumb question because you may be thinking how would thinset bond to something rubbery etc.. but yes as long as it's (Modified) Thinset then it's all good.

That troweling method that you're showing putting the grount down is incorrect and yes, the f.A takes a couple seconds for the chemical reaction to react to then be able to tell how much water it actually needs... The towel is not old school. The towel is how it's supposed to be done and never use a mop.
@paulallen-01 Did you watch the whole video or are you just commenting on a second? The method that he is grouting is incorrect. The grout is too wet and you are not supposed to grout like that. You are supposed to pack the joints, not let it fall in the joint. You will end up with voids. So like I said, his grouting method is incorrect and the towel is to buff off any grout haze. After the second wash, you're welcome.
If you use a large sponge with a scratchy side, it cleans the major stuff off much quicker, and easier. The excess grout get's worked into the scratchy side, versus the regular sponge which can only handle a little bit.
Hey man great video. Question,do you need epoxy thinset only to install marble or other stone or can you use other thinsets? Trying to avoid any blotchy spots. Whats your process when installing stone in shower area
I like to use prolite thinset its really good for stone and specially shower tiles including shower floors its has very little to non sand which would help prevent blotchy spots, its a non sag thinet so helps all the way around
@@Pri79111Typically the following day after grout but they're are certain occasions or situations when it may require Sealing stone or tile before grout but for the most part would be after grout.
Hey man has any of your tile changed color cause of the grout. I just grouted this marble Pickett tile with gray grout and sealed before grouting but it darkend.
I did my shower similarly. Sloped mortar bed and then I used Aquadefense instead of Redgard. I did numerous thick coats especially where corners met. I didn't use non-fracture fabric, didn't occur to me that I should now I'm wondering how it will hold up. Did the drain area numerous times as well. Water tested it for 24hrs and verified no leaks from below. Then used shower pan approved thinset and tiled over. It's been 2 years and it's holding up fine. That said, I do occasionally have a paranoia. Anything goes wrong and you're tearing out the entire thing.
Yeah I hear you lol you should be fine aqua defense is good! The fabric is very helpful but its only a reinforcing method in other words not technically necessary. Sounds like you'll be fine 👍
Nice work man but you can cut those perfect quick and easy on a miter saw and with way less burring. They are aluminum bro. I used to cut them like that too.
