Love the kit. Currently have a VX 200 series but have ordered a new Trope and would be very interested in this. Just wondering if it's possible to adapt some type of sleeping arrangement for 2 as IM not sure if I want roof top conversion. Just an idea but love your project, looks top quality. Cheers
I have cel-fi and Starlink and not happy with my cel-fi and found it a waste of money. I've had situations where my phone had reception and the cel-fi didn't and it is installed as recommended.
Probably the best build. Not just your journey but on the internet. I simply love it. Now! Lets see how the 2.8/auto goes and can you live with it. Future episodes will be exciting
On some vehicles there is no high beam signal you can connect to at the headlight because the headlights are connected to the can or lin circuits, hence the need for the canm8 module (not required on an Isuzu as used here though) Depending which canm8 module you get they can also give you park lights, reverse, ignition etc outputs which makes wiring additional accessories much easier and tidier.
I didn’t understand what the benefit is to tap the CANBUS. Why are you using that? Does it communicate that you can only use the spotlight when your high beams are on? Is that an Australian Regulation? Or are you just tapped into your high beam switch to activate the spotlight?
The new rules are a joke, You now have to buy a sealed box that will cost as much as the lithium battery. Government's always screw the people who have the least.
Heiner - any news on your 48-volt build with Andrew - I am also aiming to go 48-volt in my next build and hope to learn as much from your builds as possible. if you were In Europe I would have you take care of my needs 👍👍 (just a dream!)
Thanks Heiner, for taking the time to help people like me & for sharing your knowledge with us & explaining it in easy ways for me to understand. It really helps to give me the confidence to give it a go, knowing I can probably do it with the help of your tuition & if I study all the PDF it's all good to go & done right. Thanks heiner your'e a -loody legend!! :0)
Hi Robert. The new regulation comes into effect 18 November 2023. Installations done before that date are not affected by it, so your setup won't be affected by it.
I’ve seen a lot of these “home safe” dual battery setups. But wouldn’t one be able to start the car from the house battery, just with some long starter cables? It would save the weight and cost with a second, or in fact a third battery.
