What I don't know is why hydrogen and oxygen mixed together isn't flammable.
@funfactfinding
@funfactfinding Месяц назад
Great question! 👍 Maybe I should consider doing a video about that next. Here’s a simple answer (I could explain for days) When hydrogen and oxygen are simply mixed together, they do not react immediately. The mixture is not flammable in this state because the activation energy required to start the reaction is not provided. To ignite the mixture and produce water (H₂O), an external source of energy, such as a spark or flame, is needed to overcome the activation energy barrier. Once this energy is supplied, the hydrogen and oxygen can react in a highly exothermic reaction, producing water and releasing a large amount of energy in the form of heat and light. ☺️
@gordon985
@gordon985 Месяц назад
@@funfactfinding so the explanation is that if given enough energy heat and light is produced and the results are water. I'm not stupid by a long shot but that kinda sounds like an explanation because we have not figured it out yet. I've noticed that a lot of things in science are like that. I guess there is a lot more to learn.

And another thing, puzzled scientist for decades really? What scientist are you referring to if I might ask?
@funfactfinding

Great question 👍 It seems to be a big topic of debate and disagreements. Through my thorough research on the topic, here are several scientist I have discovered (both old and new) Aristotle- The ancient Greek philosopher mentioned observations related to the Mpemba effect in his works. Francis Bacon- The English philosopher and scientist wrote about similar observations in the 17th century. René Descartes- The French philosopher and mathematician also discussed similar phenomena. G.W. Leibniz- The German polymath mentioned the phenomenon in his writings. Denis Osborne- The British physicist who collaborated with Mpemba to publish the first scientific paper on the effect. James Brownridge- A physicist at Binghamton University who has conducted experiments related to the Mpemba effect. Nikola Bregović- A researcher who has investigated the underlying mechanisms of the Mpemba effect. Xi Zhang- A scientist whose work has contributed to understanding the molecular dynamics involved in the effect. Jonathan Katz- A physicist who has proposed theoretical explanations for the Mpemba effect. These scientists have explored various hypotheses and conducted experiments to understand the underlying reasons for the Mpemba effect, but as you can see it remains a topic of debate, arguments as well as countless hours of research in the scientific community.

The Mpemba-Effect is just plain nonsense. Whoever made this video has not even tried it. I have won many bets against it and it hasn't worked even once in a realistic setup. It only worked when using a well insulated bowl with a large surface area. So that the cooling of the hot water was primarily due to evaporation. Enough water was evaporated (gone) so that the remaining amount froze faster in the end. So absolutely no complex effect whatsoever.
@bryannewton9609
@bryannewton9609 Месяц назад
I was just going to say the same thing. Firstly the video shows no example of this. Just water evaporating or melting and other floating colored balls in a tube, what did that have to do with anything I don't know. I probably should not comment since it just gives the video more credit but since the first comment was bang on, here is my added 2 cents. I've never seen this happen in any controlled testable environment nor have I had anyone come close to presenting their claims about it. My son's teacher in middle school had the class do this experiment at home in a freezer to prove the point. However no matter how many times we did this the hot water was always the last to freeze. I wish I would have won some bets like yourself but mine were always just skeptical arguments that ended the same. Please tell me I am wrong and show me some real evidence because I would be happy to change my mind. cheers

Don't forget to take in the comedy portion of nature's largest reality show while you're there. This is where tourons (tourist morons) voluntarily take on human vs animal challenges, like: just how close do you think I can get to that mama grizzly? Or, those bison look so darn fluffy I just have to touch one! You can sit back and enjoy the show or if you're feeling frisky you can give it a go yourself. Enjoy!

The difference between then now is that municipalities use traffic tickets primarily as a source of income, not as a means to curb bad driving behavior. Ever notice how there seems to be more cops out looking to hand out tickets towards the end of the month? They've got quota's to fill and the governments involved need your cash..
@funfactfinding
@funfactfinding 2 месяца назад
You're spot on. Traffic enforcement these days often feels more like a revenue scheme than a genuine effort to improve road safety. The uptick in ticketing near the end of the month really does make it seem like they're more interested in filling quotas and boosting funds than in making the roads safer for everyone.
