THE LORD GOD said in HIS Holy Word that HE takes pleasure in comforting HIS children. Try Jesus at His Word. You'll Know for yourself that HE is Able! Be Blessed!
HE'S been so GOOD! wasn't feeling too good this Sunday morning. Although I haven't heard this so in a long time, it didn't change the meaning of the song that God had been so good to me and I love him. Praise GOD for his goodness, still blessing me and you.
Billy White if that was the reunion choir, the entire choir stand would have been standing and singing. Only one section is up and thats First Church of Deliverance.
I did too. I listened every Sunday night in bed on a tiny transistor radio hidden under my pillow, I did so until the passing of Rev. Clarence Cobb. There was so much energy, I couldn't fall asleep after the broadcast! Even over the radio, I could "feel" the Holy Ghost doing His thing. It just wasn't the quite same after Rev. Cobb's passing. Now, under the current director, the choir today is nothing like what it once used to sound like under the former leadership and musicians, especially that fantastic organist from back in the day. Please go back to the original First Church of Deliverance musical repertoire and that fantastic unmistakable sound!
Most of those choir members are dead now, even the choir directors and instrumentalists. And the sound in Gospel music has changed. It is now a lighter, more pop sound. First Church has held onto as much of the past as it can, it seems. But things have changed, and so has its sound, somewhat.
This is an old church.I remember First church Of Deliverance when I was a little girl back in the 60's.My mother was a member Aka( Rev.Anna Malone) those were the good ole days.
I remember when Carneal first began singing with the First Church of Deliverance, and he has gotten better as the years have progressed. That is a blessing from God.
This is uplifting old time church music that makes your foot tap. However i do enjoy music like this, but the musicians are WAY too LOUD. They are not balanced, the choir can not be heard! The piano should be the lead instrument because it is the softest, then the organist should play under the piano. The percussionist should be felt, not heard. Nonetheless, i enjoy music like this.
You are right 100%, except for one thing. Rev. Bryson is the organist and is an excellent organist. However, he is always heavy on that expression pedal. I think it is all the way up. It is not clear if he has a hearing problem or what, but he usually plays too loud for the choir to be heard clearly. Of course, the other musicians follow his lead and play too loud as well. Most musicians know when they are playing too loud, so it is not clear what the problem here is all about. However, at First Church, the organ is the lead instrument, always. The piano is good for a recording, but for church services, it may as well not be there.
I got MUCHO love for the Spiritual/Deliverance church. A church which I played organ for several of their churches and many of their services. Yes we were there ALL DAY and into the night....but I loved it!
