Following the success of the 'Cresta vs Dragweek' series on MCMTV2, we decided to launch our very own channel!
Benny (aka: Mechanical Stig) is followed around by his camera man, producing quality car content not to be missed by anyone apart from maybe your grandma.
We're really excited to showcase what we do day to day at BCW, well the exciting stuff anyway. Throw a subscribe our way to follow along on our automotive adventures!
Nixon is a lifestyle brand but they’re mostly known for their line of sunnies. Also, those old Honda 2-strokes are still popular in Hawaii. I think they were Elites in the US but yeah, very much still popular though the newer GY6 four-strokers have dominated the landscape in various forms, not always official.
if anyone wants to know why they are proposing charging for feeding excess solar back into the grid, its not the government, its because solar with no ballast system is a NIGHTNMARE for generators and regulating the grid. Long story short, generation needs to match demand. if it doesnt, the grid can collapse. Solar is a problem because you can have a suburb of rooftop solar pumping power into the grid, and suddenly a cloud fly's over and the generation drops, causing a huge problem for balance. Charging for feeding into the grid is supposed to encourage people to get battery systems to act as ballast which takes out those sudden peaks and troughs. Yep. Renewables are far from perfect.
The pistons in those calipers are most likely made out of phenolic. They are resistant to heat. But they do absorb moisture and brake fluid slowly over time and swell, resulting in them sticking in their bores. Hopefully you can get replacement steel pistons. Those brake lines look like “nitrous lines” cause they are probably either custom made -3 lines or they came with the aerospace brake kit that a previous owner installed. I built my fox body from the ground up on a budget. Which is pretty easy here in the states. Mustang parts are pretty much like Lego from ‘79-‘04. I’ve got parts from each of the three different generations on my coupe. (Fox, SN95 and New Edge)
Benny, I work for LMR (Late Model Restoration) where you bought that brake kit back in the states and just watched the video. I am very disappointed that the kit you got was incorrect, depending on when you bought the kit we did have some of those brake line adapter kits that came in with that exact wrong fitting on them from the manufacterer. I am not sure what I can do to help since you're on the other side of the globe but feel free to DM me and I can get with our customer service team to see what we can do!
45:20 You have a little lathe my dude! Just turn out a couple of new ones in steel. I have had nothing but bad luck with composite piston calipers. Under heavy braking they expand and wedge inside the bore then when they shrink back down you get little chunks of the composite in your lines. I know people are going to try and discredit that but as it has happened to me on more than one occasion (on top of other people reporting the same issues). Stipulated these were all reman units designed for steel pistons and their clearances so it could be a Dorman being lazy or cheap with swapping them over to chinesium garbage.
Anyone watching this if you have burring back pain while working in the car or siting at the computer you need to get a triple Magnesium supplement. It works very good. It needs to be the 3 magnesium version. Try it and you will thank me. 1 gel cap or tab per day after breakfast. Of course as your doc first. And Alpha lipoic acid supplement as well. I can feel the bottom of my feet again after 30 yrs. And zinc also They all work together to stop the cramping and burning back. Great for muscle health. Thanks Benny for the content. Tim.
I'm understanding why people end having vehicles that stay in foreign countries versus shipping them around only for them to be held up and destroyed in the process.
In Vic, 0.66c a KW back into the grid. But then they went this isn't good and started to lower the amount and if you changed your panels you had to get the new number, so many I know had the original panels pumping back into the grid and had the new systems dead end or go into batteries. GritMitts make a good product. It is the little things, I know you don't want to do it, but removing the seat makes it easier for under-dash work... though that side intrusion bar may have still been in the way, you could also have just laid inside instead of twist and shout, like with some work under the hood, cut and scraped knuckles when you could move that thing with 2 or bolts to get better clearance.
When solar first became a thing and the power meters were analog, it’d actually wind your meter back. If you used 100kWh and fed 50kWh back, you’d only pay for 50kWh. If you fed back more than you used you’d get a credit on your electricity account 😂
Cable throttle is easy for camera to probe into, E-throttle is shut fast, They just wanna see in the cylinders, better that than pulling your plugs, they wouldn't cross thread more than 1 would they...
