I'm hoping with the next edition GW can embrace the narrative as I feel as it has been lost this edition. 40k's grand narrative hasn't been quite fleshed out, and expanding upon the crusade game mode and making the game more engaging NOT for the sense of making more competitive play options but for a narrative sense is the way to go.
All of the issues you have are self inflicted. It’s not GW. Warhammer has ALWAYS had units that are better than others. Warhammer has ALWAYS had competitive minded people playing. Warhammer has ALWAYS had people making the most efficient lists they can. GW writes entire narrative rules sections into every codex and gives you tools to create your own universe and stories. They come out with narrative campaign books for you to play through that are themed after specific events happening in the lore. All of this is available to you to have a good experience that you enjoy, yet for some reason it’s everyone else’s responsibility to creat the environment YOU want. Competitive fans are fans too and they are not wrong for doing so. If you want a narrative experience you need to communicate with your opponents before the tabletop. It’s selfish to assume someone will play the way YOU want them to. If you want to tell a story, tell a story nobody is stopping you. In fact it is completely supported and encouraged with an entire section in your codex. You have access to discord to create groups as well. You gave everything you need to make the coolest narrative rule of cool experience for Warhammer youve ever had…. But it sounds like you just don’t communicate that or make the effort to create it. It won’t happen on its own. I myself have created multiple narrative campaigns and we went by the rule of cool and everyone had a great time bringing what they like. It’s just a matter of communication and actually doing it. GW won’t do it for you, nobody will. If you want it you gotta actually do it. And if you’re not willing to do it then you don’t want it.
competition is a great driver for many things: you get people excited about building lists, buying and painting models, you force the company to make better and more balanced rules, you create communities of people that are always on top of releases and experience tournaments together. As an indie game developer, tournaments and events are a HUGE deal to keep the game active and bring new people in, to show there is interest in the game itself! what we ALWAYS mess up is that we put competitive people in the same swimming pool as the narrative/for fun crowd. We should try to be very upfront with our opponents: are we gonna play competitive or are we gonna play for fun? are we looking for different things? oh well, I wanted to play for fun... that's ok: I'm sure you'll find a better match! if you don't separate competitive from narrative you get all the bad experiences you talked about. if you separate them every player gets what he/she wants from the game!
I am myself also a Great Fan of Pushing things, and I am myself a Indie Game Dev. I love competitive STuff. But I think that also the Internet and RU-vid Cultrue is contributing to this. THE 5 BEST UNITS, WHY YOU SUCK AT TYRANIDS... I am myself PART of that MACHINE.... BUT... I love the People at Warlord Games, who Started Warhammer Back in the Day, and there The GAMES are COMPETITIVE & FUN, or can be played in more than One Way. I know when I started Playing League of Legends back in 2009. It was the Wild West. It was so much fun but also Frustrating because of broken things. But After a while The Game LOST his apeal for me and SOUL after everything was made to Cater to the Masses. Maybe I am a bit Punk Rock at heart. I love How the Secondaries and Primary Missions unfold in 40k. But where is the... "WE LOST A PILOT ON THIS PLANET". You are Facing your Opponent here... get in, get out...Have fun, be challenged! It comes down to communication! But Nobody really communicated that to me as a NEW and Returning Player to the Game. I was thrown into Competitive Problems Game after GAME, which is ok, but the Models I loved, and Wanted to play just SUCKED stats wise. And the Models I didn't like and where EXPENSISE and had good STats. So I bought some to compete. But It didn't feel right to me. I didn't KNOW I had to separate them. I was just getting into the GAME. Now I know... that will be my next Video! And Somehow Competitive looks down on Narrative??? Elitism?

The competitive panorama always evolve and things that are good now, in 3 months can be bad due to balance, meta changes, new armies, new codex.
@@dariostabletopminatures yeah I’m thinking of giving it a shot. I may not get into the game itself but I’d love to try it as a hobby making decorations or aesthetics
@@crowe3154 Get yourself a couple of minis and some PAint. A Primer. Or get a Free Mini from your Local Gamestore. If you have Question... I can do a Vid for you!
That's not right. Balance helps the game, it's the players' responsibility to recognize the way they want to play. If you want to play more casually or with a more lore-friendly approach and the players you're up against are competitive players, it's normal that you won't enjoy it because you're playing two different games. (The same goes for other hobbies.) I play competitive and crusade games and I know how and when to split between a competitive game or when someone wants a game with a more lore approach. You just have to be a little communicative and talk to your opponent before the game to make sure what they want to play.
@@anvalir I didn't really know I was playing two different Games. I mean I knew! But I was returning to the Game... Building, Painting and Playing what I had. Just Taking in games like Sparing or Kickbox Training. But Every Game I played against Different Players I had the Feeling... man, what do I do against that Unit. Oh you need Eradicators. Oh You need Aggressors. Oh You need Hellblasters. Oh you need a Redemptor Dreadnought! Oh you need a Tank. And Bit by Bit my Wallet was bleeding, and I didn't even like the Minis that where "good". They just didn't apeal to me. And now you might say: "Than 40k maybe is not for you!" But It is... I want to play my Jump Pack Captain, Vanguard Veterans, Terminators.... Yeah We will see! And everybody was playing with the Mission Cards. Primaries, Secondaries, which is awesome. But nobody said... look we can play it also differently. A Pilot and Secret Documents are lost on this planet. Get in, get out. Play that with your opponent. Warlord Games Bolt Action 3th Edition has something like that. Thanks so much for your Comment!
@@dariostabletopminatures yeah starting with the hobby and going competitive is hard, and more with marines that have 100+ units (probably the worst faction to start IMO). The thing is that from 9th edition all books and codex come with crusade rules that are super lore wise and more oriented to casual or lorefriendly matches. We are playing a crusade now with a group of friends and all lists must be "friendly" and have some lore attached to it, and we have some homebrew rules we start at 1000 points so no T10 or above for example. We as players have options to not play hyper competitive but seems that not many people are playing crusade.
You're right about a lot of it, Dario. I got tired of buying new rule books, when they could just release some pages on the internet for people to download once a year. No, my friend. It's all about the green eyed monster in the room... greed and money. Maybe one day, it'll change back to the times when playing the games were for fun and camaraderie. Until then. All we can do is become frugal with our hard earned money. 😁💶💵💷👍
Word Brother! Well I don't mind them Earning Money. Alot of Money if they Want. But I think they should keep in Mind That Gamers and Players have different Needs. In Magic the Gathering they coined those "The TIMMY, The Johnny and the Spike". I think they should keep that in mind.
This is such a a moooood Everytime I find a new game it's priced like GW. Gw made it the norm and now we all have to litterally *pay*. I might quit gaming at this point honestly.
I don't know if it's that. Might be that Licenses, Shipping, Storing costs....and that makes the Game Expensive. But It seems a bit Overpriced to me. I mean I love the Game, and I am glad to support Atomic Mass Game... but I guess when I wanted to get into the Hobby... (HERE TAKE MY MONEY...) I found Magneto and Toad.... for 30 to 40 Euros. And the Faction Pack for 60 to 80 for FOUR MINIS. I mean fine....I would love to, but, GW seems to be better Priced than that. If price is too high, ACCESABILITY goes down,...without a community it's hard. 3D Print and Etsy I amazing for this GAME.... but yeah. The PRoducers should make Money.
@@dariostabletopminaturesI imagine it's largely the licensing that pushes it up. They have an official license, the Etsy sellers don't. As for gaming generally, there are lots of great options on a cheaper budget, so long as you don't want a big brand like Marvel, DC or Warhammer.
It fair to say GW makes good minis their stuff is awesome but I've been priced out of it. I encourage you to look at some 3d prints, they have some amazing things on Esty that are less money then GW. Much harder to kitbash with but still very fun to paint and use.
I love this game. MCP miniatures are produced of plastic comparable to GW products, and also are highly detailed and easy to assemble(one of most enjoyable once imo), and that comes from someone who plays lot of wargames. Also i have this exact box, ive got it for 50$. For same price you can get for example 10 tactical spacemarines. So thats lot less plastic for sure. But all sculpts are unique, and that is almost full game roster basicaly and all you need to try playing this game. When you cant play a game of warhammer with 10 spacemarines. So my point is i love this game so i buy their miniatures. Sometimes its pricey and i buy less than i want to, and i still have lot of those, haha. Gl
I feel you brother! I wish this game would be... lets say 10 to 20 Bucks cheaper, so more could get into it. But Lets see. MAybe I can make it a bit more Popular.... and right now there are alot of these Packs on Sale. And the 3d Printed Minis are also Amazing! Hopefully alot of MCP Breps coming in the Future! I will get myself Mutants.... and Blade!
I think my point is this: The High Price point might keep potential Players out! Unless we promote it a bit, and People grab some of this Boxes on Discount and use 3d Modells. So that the Community can grow???
There was a before? Assembled and painted? Yeah you have to assemble them... on some kits you have options. It is an amazing game though. And you could look for discounts.... or 3D Prints. The Point is, it'S a fantastic game and I want more People to play it... But the Prices make it hard to get in smooth, and stay in... or maybe I'm wrong.
I love crisis protocol, but yeah, some of the figures are needlessly complicated and fiddly. I believe it's to add a false sense of "complexity" to inflate the price and make it more comparable to Warhammer's perceived "premium" prices. But the game kind of slaps.
I mean.... The Game is fantastic. I don't know what they have for Licensing... to produce the Game. Lower Print Runs are more expensive, higher runs like GW gets the PRice down. How much does it cost where you live? 2 Minis like Blade and whatever is in that Box can cost around 40 to 50 euros. I wanna give you my money...but... For that money I print all my FAvourite Characters on Etsy and they look like the Movies!
The only way I see production costs coming down in relation to purchase costs. Is for those playing to start keeping a tighter grasp on your money. When they start losing money, it'll force them to drop the costs down. This can only be done if you ask yourself. Do I really need this? Is it going to be a part of the majority of my battles? Or will it end up sitting on the shelf collecting dust after being played only a few times? If you let these become a part of your purchasing power. You'll never go wrong. Remember, Stan doesn't own Marvel. It's not the marvel we grew up with. This is the money greedy house of the mouse's marvel. Just as wicked and evil as the other franchises it corrupted and ruined. Spend your money wisely and well. You'll never be let down. Good luck and have fun!
The military uses logos like that to identify a unit, division, platoon, etc. I couldn't say specifically which one it is and what battlefront it's from? You should be able to find that out with no problem. Unless the powers that be think you shouldn't know that either? The national museum of the United States Army might be a place to look. They have a you tube site. Also there's a museum of military vehicles on it as well. When I was a teen. I could've told you. But my memory isn't that great anymore. 🤣 It may be a british tank insignia? You think that Sherman was a bear to build. The M8 Scott HMC is going to require some walk away from it time. Hours to relax before starting on it for the next round of building. 😅 Later...
@@dariostabletopminatures it's got a Stuart body with an open turret like your M10. It has a howitzer on it. It could be used for long range artillery fire or close. You could probably use it like a back up tank with your M10? I'd probably use it in a Bolt Action Pacific war battle, though I perfer the European theater instead. The Scott was so good a tank. The United States used them in the Vietnam War as well.
The American tank destroyers had turrets, unlike the Stug/Stuh, Jadgpanther, etc. I like the German tank destroyers because they realized a tank lower to the earth made for a harder target to hit in close combat. On this one, I plan on kitting it out with jerry cans, packs, etc. To show it's been in the war for a longer period of time. Reference photos on google search images always help in my model building. Thanks, Dario, for covering this tank. I had just purchased one myself. Along with the Scott tank that has a howitzer on it. It has the Stuart body. Should be fun builds when I get to them. One guy brought up 1/96 scale. Maybe he should consider 1/100 scale. Flames of War a miniature wargame has a vast variety of tanks and armys in various types and times in the second world war. Hope that helps? The M36 Jackson is the same size as the Sherman. The M10 was a smaller, I guess it'd qualify as a light tank? My opinion though. Great program. Keep Calm, Reload, Panzer On! 🤪🇺🇸🇩🇪👍
Same here. I play more to have fun and a good time. While at the same time I don't want to be completely stomped. But The Fun and Fluff is my first love.
@corychallice7705 have you considered Flames of War. They have a large variety of tanks and accessories for their World War II wargame. Though it's in 1/100 scale. You can use some n scale model train models with it as well. Hope this idea helps?
Yeah...I have to see how it fits best into this Game. So I guess it was a good Size, although Bolt Action is 28mm / 1:56. But It fits! Glad you enjoyed it!
Agreed. I feel like the smaller scale for aircraft (in addition to being more practical), also helps convey the sense of a plane seeming smaller since it's up in the sky. Great job on the model, Dario!
@@TikitheHutt Very Iconic. Love the Insight into the Tech! Sadly If I Want to feld this Bad Boy in Bolt Action, I should leave my own Pintlemounted MMGs and HMGs at home. They might open fire!
I’ve just played my first game of V3 and I am gutted, Infantry (useless, couldn’t kill any thing), MG’s (worked really well if their shooting infantry in the open, but once the cat was out of the bag, were useless). Heavy weapons and artillery (awesome, utterly devastating). I’ve watched loads of online stuff know, and I couldn’t understand why so many people were taking inexperienced infantry (well now I understand, for 71pts you can take the weakest useless infantry team, allowing you to max out on the good stuff (artillery)). I guess I’ll be moving to flames of war then and I’ll have to wait until version 4……….😢
@@adiebland9220 i feel you Brother. I have been playing with new Players who came over from 40k and had starter boxes and fell on love with the Game. All fun and games untill someone brings the full HE list with MGs, and other stuff covering the firing Base. I will talk about that in the next Video. I started US recently and I am struggling a bit vs what other Player will and could Bring. BUT! DON'T LOSE HOPE NOW. I will see what I can do with outflanking, Airstrikes and clever manouvering and list Building. Infantery is far from being useless.
Check if you find A Vallejo Bundle Called US - Infantry. Otherwise try Olive drab, Armypainter Army Green. I used Citadell Colors on these too... Castelan Green and Zandri Dust. For the Bases I used a Burned Sienna from Home Depot.
Thanks for the video. I have an air observer in my us, brirish and german armies. Same as you, I use the actual airfix plane on a 50mm base with a trasparent pedestal…its not notmally amazing but when it hits…it hits hard. Also brings a great dynamic to the game. Thanks
@@rubenlopezcatalan8661 glad you like it! I think I will use my US troops to outflank and destroy Flak weapons... And I am thinking of Bringing 2 US Air observers. Next Video Will be the painted plain. Would love to see your Planes!
Hi, you got your math wrong. Remember to deduct the rifles that you replace/lose: Two BARs get you 4-2=2 more shots for 12pts and an LMG gets you 4-2=2 more shots for 15pts. And only German is 5 because of the national rule, which does not make sense to compare with a BAR as it's a different faction. So you actually get the same amount of shots with the BARs but I believe longer range with the LMG with is what that extra 3 points would be for.
@@divanvanzyl7545 Well, isn't that what I said? 3 points more get you 6 inch Moore for almost the same thing. And in a Meta where MMGs and LGMs are now usefull, those 12 points for a BAR don't seem to cut it anymore. If Americans COULD still move and shoot and hit on a 4 plus... But.... Yeah
@@dariostabletopminatures I dont play americans, so I dont have a strong opinion either way. But on the surface, I dont see the point of the BAR in V3, compared to rifles or SMGs.

Dario, you're really doing a good job at it. I have a thought or idea for you that may help you? I usually get magazines or books on World War II. That show bombed out buildings and ruined structures to use as a reference. It helps a lot in designing the structure you're trying to make.
