It was really nice of Dennis to make this guest appearance that Tommy asked him to make to promote his "7 Deadly Zens" solo album. That's the kind of thing a friend does. Dennis had nothing to gain from this appearance.
Sweet mercy! I almost forgot how great these guys were, and how much I loved them growing up in the 80s. Saw them in Buffalo on this tour. So glad you uploaded this and that it came up in my feed. What a thrill to hear this great music again!
This was the first tour/concert I attended, at the tender age of 13. Without parents, even! Pretty much as I recall, though it's good to have the memory jogged a bit. Saw the show at the Summit in Houston, TX. And with that, my lifelong love affair with live music, playing music, and enjoying the hell out of a good show began.
First concert I went to June 1981 at Bismarck Civic Center. Dennis DeYoung traded his tour jacket for satin Starter jacket from Chicago White Sox manager Tony LaRussa. In afternoon, I spotted DeYoung exiting his limousine as he arrived at Riverwood golf course to practice at driving range. My friend Greg and I watched. (DeYoung hit big slice shots) DeYoung’s assistant called us over. We were excited about opportunity awaiting us until we were greeted by man saying, “Hey kids, why don’t you do me a favor and get the hell out of here!”
