Plywood is a good pick, especially for a bathroom, sand the corners a bit, and if the slats are spaced close enough you wont even see that nasty ply on the edge.
I dod this in white onto of an old printed canvas jst used pollyfiller to sparkler on chunky texture then painted and shaded a bit looks great get compliment on it all the time so cheap amd easy❤
