Hey, came back to say, I just went to the Steins;Gate cafe today. It was fun, thank you for the address. I got the まゆしいバナナミルク (Mayuri Banana Milk) It’s relatively expensive, but it’s for the experience. I’m having a great time in Japan!
great job, however let me tell you that you miss a couple of things, just outside the train station is the institute where sakuta, mai and Rio studies, actually is a secondary school, and also in fujisawa you only needed to walk a couple streets deep on the town to find tthe bridge of the river, the "beenys" restaurant showed at the series, the seven where sakutas bougth drinks to keep asleep, the park where koga and sakuta kicked their bottoms, and the cross street where sakuta´s building is, actually there are vending machines with the image of Mai offering drinks, the same it was used in a tv comercial where kaede san realizes who are, and the same message "do you want? i wll not share you..." since the mayor the times anime characters comes to the beach almost always go to enoshima (not so explicity sometimes) but the real thing is that bunny girl characters are one of the most accepted and recognized by people so they are getting the most of this marketing strategy.. cheeers
I feel like a gross little deviant when I reflect upon the little figurines I bought MYSELF last time I was in Japan. I wince, comparing them to the wholesome and sweet childlike items you so enthusiastically showcased in this video. I went into the basement of a grot shop in Akihabara and bought a 'used' pair of girls underpants which were stuffed into a plastic pod (Greta Thunberg rightfully said 'how dare you! as I twisted the chunky dial on the machine to release the pervy little plastic Kinder Surprise). She would have doubled down on the admonishments when she caught a glimpse of the front of the vending machine: a gonzo photograph of a demure schoolgirl flashing her gusset (which was an actual printed photograph sticky-taped onto the front of the gacha-machine, garlanded by much manic looking kanji and a great many exclamation marks scribbled in thick red and black marker pens. I had no idea there was that much further information to impart, but there you go). To get to this machine downstairs you have to walk past a phalanx of silicone dongs the size of bollards and a wall of DVDs involving barbed wire AND electrocution. Re-entering the ground floor feels cleansing as it's mostly populated by cheerful, casual groups of couples, office workers of all genders and young men in restrained but obvious high spirits-- it felt more like I was in Tower Records for late night shopping. Minty fresh John Boy Walton, yo! One girl was holding a bakery box of cheesecake tied with a delightfully old fashioned string handle with one hand whilst rifling through the row of fluffy red handcuffs with the other. Was a s£x shop visit a spontaneous pitstop on the way home, or had she been looking forward to it all day as she sat at her office cubicle typing away, part of her double bill extravaganza of 'bakery and grot'? Wow! My next gachapon adventure was in Nakano Broadway. It's on the third floor tucked in the back of an unappealing little cul-de-sac, darkened unused retail space on both sides of this small, poorly lit dead-end invites nobody to explore further. Except me, of course. Tucked into the corner are two gachapon machines with the MOST BEAUTIFULLY DETAILED little bondage dioramas you've ever seen. They're like hobbyists models which involved the necessity of glue for full assembly. A Kinder Surprise which involves teeny tiny dildos needing to be glued onto a thigh mount worn by a teeny tiny busty lady in the apparent throes of ecstasy (entertaining her evening incubus visit? What exactly is the source of her great solitary pleasure?! The little accoutrement appears to be rather nugatory, forgive me). Further along was the snug little Tamatoys store, selling pheromone sprays with delightfully inspired names like 'The Good Smell of Girls Indoor Slippers', 'The Smell of the Armpits of the Female Athletes from the Track and Field Team', 'The Smell of Schoolgirl's Farts'. I also bought a horrifyingly realistic sculpture of a turd which came with a completely serious and alarmingly detailed guide to the wonderful world of human faecal waste material. It was more than a gatefold sleeve-- it was a veritable concertina of a booklet which illustrated (and richly described) a common variety of turds and what their appearance indicates about one's digestive health. They do things differently in Japan. Even sculpting a piece of poo is serious business. I'm fairly certain you'll delete this comment and I don't blame you. 🙈🙉🙊😇👍
I just ordered genki 1. I will probably try Japanese from zero too. I already know hiragana and katakana. It only took me 3 weeks to learn both but I've listened to alot of spoken Japanese and already have some vocabulary built up. I found it pretty easy to pick up hiragana and katakana. Good review! I will try both and see what I like more. I do want a challenge so maybe genki is better in that regard.
Visiting Oarai is my dream. Is there a calendar of city events that are somehow related to GuP? I'm mainly interested in meeting cosplayers. The only thing I know about are the birthday parties of the main five girls.
Genki > literally anything else. Especially if paired with some of the other awesome resources from the Japan Times. It has all: it's updated, it has companion websites, lots of exercises, and if you want to advance to intermediate level, there you have Quartet, which feels less of a burden than Tobira.
Going to japan and live there was my biggest dream and because of that i bought the jfz book when i was in the end of grade 5th and now i am in grade 7th and i still haven't complete it bc idk why i can't get the motivation to it so i just want some advice so maybe i can start again🥺
seems japan is really missrable but thats they culture with dont stand out in terms of looks unlike europe where its ok to dress different like you can dress as an emo or punk in public
I just bought Japanese from Zero and the Genki workbook and textbook should be here in two days! Thanks for sharing your learning journey with us! I'm excited to start n.n
こんにちはみんさん have you learnt hiragana / katakana yet? People give language apps a bad wrap for being too robotic or formal. But I used a language app to teach me hiragana / katakana and it was very helpful for me in that regard. I'm waiting for my genki textbook in the mail. おめだとう and congrats on your journey
Hey, no way. The guy on the other language study video said "learning" with books is no good. He said it's all about acquisition where you just listen to all the random noises and it magically coalesces into a second language...deep down grrrrr ingrained unconscious ability will rain down upon thee...according to that guy.
I agree that learning through Genki is overwhelming since there are many grammar points and vocabulary items taught each lesson within a few pages. Minna Ni Nihongo seems to be more popular.
Seeing your hard work over the years gives me hope that one day I can be at your level. Your a real inspiration to all Japanese learners! Hope life is treating you well =)
I haven’t tried these, I’m using the Genki series and since I already knew hiragana and katakana before going through the first book, it wasn’t as overwhelming. Which book should I get after the Genki series?
