Those invited to the Spurs homecoming show were for employees of the building. Wemby didn't have to show up but since he had some media to do whole it was going on and he decided to be cool and say hello to everyone.
Clan, the Spurs big turnaround in 1989 was because David Robinson finally arrived after finishing his Naval Contract commitment, they got Sean Elliott with the sixth pick and Willie Anderson the year before (they had no way to improve while waiting for Robinson, so they got high picks in the meantime). Three young core players that all responded immediately, and Rod Strickland established himself as a decent PG in his second year.
It's NOT the same at all. David Robinson had everybody put in place for him. And Tim Duncan already had everybody in space for him. This is not the same at all, this is in process of rebuilding, those teams were already built and DONE
Chicago bulls are for SURE tanking. You think he comes out and says “yeah our goal is to tank cause we desperately need this pick in this amazingly deep draft to salvage the mess we have e made here in Chicago and it would be DUMB to help a riser in San Antonio if we can help it.”
25:37 Just seeing this, few questions answer. 1. Yes, I still work there as an usher heading to 6 years. 2. This was a private event for spurs staff. 3. Nobody knew Wemby was gonna show! Thank you for the shoutout clan. Can’t wait to hop on a call with you soon when I have time to give you the full breakdown of this event.
Not many teams have what the Spurs have right now. Victor has the potential to become a global hyperstar, like LeBron or MJ. Even today's biggest NBA stars don't necessarily have that. Jokic doesn't have that, SGA doesn't have that, Giannis doesn't have that, etc... Because if they did, they would be already. Investors can see that, that's why they're interested.
I would actually like to get the CHI pick in 2026. It’s the Dybantsa/boozer draft, and we only have one pick. We already have two this year. Three would be disgustingly, like 2022 when we got stuck with Branham and Wesley.
Its protected 1-8 in 2026. I dont really think it matter if the Bulls pick 11th in 2025 or 9th in 2026. I dont think the talent gap between those 2 picks is that massive.
But there may well be some subtext in there - something he didn't say. We are going to try to win every game (... with the players in uniform on any given night). I'm not sure you'll find a GM who isn't going to say that. The players will be expected to try to win every game, regardless of whether or not they're tanking via decisions at the executive level.
He’s just talking up Robinson. Dude has gotten underrated for not winning titles on his own and getting beaten by Hakeem. Mid 90s Admiral was great, stupid athletic, incredibly well rounded player.
It’s in the 1999 championship video. They said they handed the offense to Tim and the defense to David to anchor. Avery would say ”let’em go meet Five-O”.
Absolutely, especially if we manage to be healthy at the right time. Coach and players, the tools are their for sure! Going to be a fun year, excitement is back!!! Go Spurs Go!
