The FCD Classics channel is for the purpose of sharing with the world the music and ministry of Chicagos' First Church of Deliverance, founded by Reverend Clarence H. Cobbs in 1929. This church is a pioneering force in gospel music today!
So his reason was that women in pants in church was disrespectful towards the church. I disagree. Women wearing pants is not disrespectful. Pastor Cobbs grew up and lived in a time where traditions instituted by humans, to portray a holy and pious reputation, was widespread. He was not trying to be pious himself but only fell victim to the larger society which dictated what was considered Holy thinking and behavior. He was not alone at all. Most ministers believed the same thing back then. In fact, Pentecostal churches sternly objected to women wearing pants not only in church but anywhere else too. So I understand how he embraced this rule. However, the church with all its current problems, has put this thinking in the past. We now realize that God looks at the heart and not clothes. There were plenty of women entering the church with dresses on whose heart was not right with God and plenty of pants wearers whose heart was right with God. I still and always will have respect for the legacy of Pastor Cobbs because no man is perfect. He did an abundance for the black community back in the day and he will never be forgotten..
Just found them if anyone needs it here they are: "The storms is raging upon the deep, the wild winds howl the mad waves leap, the clouds are hiding the sun from sight, but the life boat is coming from the beacon bright, the life boat is coming on this way, on this way, the pilot shouts through the storm and calls, the life boat, I can you hear Jesus say, take host, take host, take host"
