Always amazed me how loud they are outside are yet you can comfortably sit right next to the engines in the back rows. They had top drawer sound insulation for sure!
I always liked the MD-11. Even though it is an enhanced DC-10, it just had more character and appeal. It is unfortunate it did not live up to its projections. I had the pleasure of flying on it several times between ORD and DFW.

I remember this beauty landing in Quito, sorting out some high up volcanoes and landing inside the city, it was full of grace. I also flew on it, and experienced its smooth climb.
