My family was always mega fans of John and June and it just feels like such a disservice and insult the way Vivian was erased by the country music industry. June actually seems like she was kind of a B. No remorse about taking a man away from his first love and his family.
I've always thought Johnny Cash wrote I Walk the Line for June Carter Cash but according to Vivian's book, he wrote it for her when they were first married. She was an extremely strong woman to survive the mental torture she experienced at such a young age. And the character it took to keep it all private! That was true love. She loved him and her actions showed it. The resilience she displayed when after the divorce she snapped back and created a whole new life for her kids and herself. I can't even begin to fathom how she went to his memorial service where she was ignored. She really loved him in thinking of him first and supporting him for the last time. The whole story just breaks me up but shows me the power of a genuine love. Though June showed her love in a different way, she stuck by him through so many relapses, the film I Walk the Line turned out to be a Hollywood myth. Both women contributed to the making of the man of faith Johnny Cash was towards the end of his life but it was Vivian Liberto who in reality Walked the Line in that marriage. I've listened to and have enjoyed Johnny Cash's work all of my life. From now on every time I hear that song I will think of Vivian. Hell, every time I hear a JC song I will think of Vivian. Kudos for this extraordinary documentary.
29:50 I think Quentin could really do a great horror movie inspired by giallos. I can see Margot Robbie playing a role kinda like Catriona MacCol in her Fulci movies. But I think he could even pull off something set in the past inspired by Gothic horror like Frankenstein
really can't stand the guy in the khaki jacket. What a pretentious nincompoop, thinks his stupid stories are interesting. I don't know where they find these self-absorbed coke-head parasites.
When Quentin says, you know you're in good hands, concerning the character's backstory, I think he sums it up. That's ultimately how I feel about Quentin's characters. Although I don't know their story, he and his actor does, in a very detailed, intimate way. His characters just have depth and layers that far outreach the story about to unfold. I can feel this within seconds of a scene.
When any other filmmaker or actor is asked a question in an interview, they think, “what is the best answer that will get me more work and notoriety?” When Tarantino is asked a question, he thinks “what is the honest answer that will let my fans in on my creative process?”
It was just a few days ago that I found "My Darling Vivian" and it I have thought abut quite often since I watching it. I was happy to "meet" her four lovely daughters. They are a wonderful tribute to their beautiful mother. I never believed what was portrayed in "Walk the Line" As a matter of fact, I could not even watch the whole movie. I think I am one of the few people who was irritated by the movie and even though I did not know anything about Vivian (other than I heard the quotes by Roseanne about the movie) I thought it was a wrong portrayal of her.
The grand son looks black to me... i am surprised they where able to stay married for so long (Vivian and Johnny) because even if she was sicillian she still never looked white..
Greatest filmmaker of our time and I find it hard to see a director as brilliant and passionate as him about movies in the future. He’s like a product of some of the most crucial years of Hollywood, he seen it all, and put all that knowledge into his movies. He’s someone you can truly say is doing it because he loves it.
Deep thots Maaaan, there's allot that you need to think about when blood is gonna be shooting out of dudes like it's shooting from a straw, since ya gotta get the actor really involved in his situation and then they can perform as they should.
Once Upon A Time in Hollywood is my favorite film in years. My late mother remembered the Tate stuff and the rest. Talked about it all the time. Would have loved this too
