I would use the gas stove I think. I'm a bit impatient. Thanks for the vid, compliments to your lady she has beautiful sleepy eyes. Your a lucky man 😊. Keep making the vids.
There is not enough air flow around the Trangia to keep it cool, the frypan is covering the top and reflecting to much heat back on the burner over heating the fuel. I have found this to be an issue with most Trangia stand options, except for the stand that comes with the mini Trangia and stands of a similar open design from China.
I think it needed more cooler air from underneath. You may need to drill out some of the vent holes to a larger size, or stand the triangle on three rocks to allow more airflow.
The fuel was bioethanol. I’ve not seen it do this in a tent, it would burn the ground sheet if it did so I’ll be using a small heatproof mat under the burner from now on. I think the wind was accelerating the burn and swirling the flame around the burner which was superheating the Trangia and vaporising the alcohol.
I'm an alcohol stove user, at least for backpacking. The other thing nice about the transgia is that you can just screw the lid down after the stove cools and leave the leftover fuel in there. I built my own windscreen from some aluminum flashing. I bought the little fry pan from transgia which fits my mess kit. Cook pancakes on it, or sausage and eggs. It comes with the Transgia mini, which is a good deal also. 38 dollars for the stove, windscreen/potholder, pot and frypan. Nice video.
Bamford has always been heavily keepered, before CRoW any interested public, mainly climbers back then, were only allowed there between October & March and only then if they asked the estate manager. Remember, rights come with responsibilities.
