Wow.... I am not a man or particularly privileged, but I did go to top public school. Could relate to so much of this. I honestly don't see how to snap out of this mentality. It is part of my personality.

I went to a military boarding school where I was bullied extensively, suffered physical abuse by teachers with individual and group punishments and the outcome of my experiences is two failed marriages. One condition I suffer from, was not only anxiety, self loathing, worthlessness, feeling of failure whatever I have done and I have achieved quite a lot to be honest but the icing on my cake is the paranoia I have suffered as a consequence of traumatic childhood. It is such a pity that so late in my life I have only just come to understand what has happened to me and how I came to be this very flawed individual. The only people I can love without any difficulties are my children and grandchildren. As for the opposite sex I am afraid I have given up and resigned myself to living on my own as I do not want any other woman to suffer the consequences of my awful childhood. Mind you, the reason I was the only child of four that was placed in boarding school was as the oldest child my mother and father never bonded with me as a baby (a mistake?) and as a consequence never visited me or took me out for a weekend pass after placing me in the school. They also made it clear at school holidays I was not particularly welcome at home so although I hated the school and couldn't wait to get away after arriving home I couldn't wait to get away back to school what a dichotomy. Thank you Pete for the illuminating video and keep up the good work.

Thank heavens for awareness and conscious action in some (more and more) of those who were subjected to this mostly heinous (and only sometimes absolutely necessary) experience of being sent away from home to boarding school. From a non-boarder, woman partner of boarder’s point of view, it doesn’t just FEEL like violence, this withdrawal (and / or extreme expression of overwhelm / perpetual anger at someone or other) in the former boarder/boarding survivor …it IS violence. There is only so far empathy and sympathy for untreated early violence experienced, (visited later upon another/s) can stretch. Beware of pity ! It - and the boarder school survivor’s huge capacity for charm, then control… will entrap you to the point of near or total disempowerment. The craziness felt, described here by Nick Duffell, will subtly develop if one kids oneself that one is genuinely loved by a boarding survivor who hasn’t taken yet courage to embark on what will be a long and inevitably painful journey of self healing - with support ! The boarder - like any other mortal who has wounds that need healing, and even though theirs are some of the most confusing of all because of this dreadful notion of having been ‘privileged’ - is unlikely ever to have peace or last love with another unless he or she does make a total commitment first and foremost to this healing of self. Such a pity the sound quality is so distorting. Not the end of the world, though.

No it’s not misunderstood it’s a party built round the personality cult of Farage. It offers simplistic solutions to complex problems, it offers no policy ,no solutions other than fool the gullible that everything can be solved by waving the Union flag and shouting at it.

That opening statement from the interviewer was absolutely magnificent. He summed up the left/ right wing ideology in 3 seconds. They both have their benefits, both have their flaws. Reform with Zero net migration is the middle ground which at this point in time. If the Country is skint (the rich have taken all the money and left us with none) how are we in the position to support asylum seekers? We're already behind on housing, adding more people is just outright problematic. I feel like some older people are on the Right because they just never got along with Ethnic minorities but the younger generations do but they are right wing because it has become common sense. The Left are in this weird position where as they are 'progressive', the media has thrown trans ideology at the traditional left wingers and if you disagree you're a bigot. You'll get the traditional left wing & Ethnic minorities voting Reform because the Corporations have taken over everything else. Labour are backed by Amazon & Shell and have Tony Blair 2.0 as leader that's not helping Britain whatsoever. At least if you give Reform a chance and they fail, the alternatives were Labour & Conservatives so it doesn't matter if they fail

I don't think it's a case of preferring simple language. The older people get, the more simple minded and less compassionate they become. Complexity and change irritates so many older people who tend to be set in their ways. Just google image "IQ by age" and look at the pattern. Every chart shows a constant decline. The average IQ rises dramatically from age 18, peaking at around 25, then starts to fall until around age 55 when it's at the same level as a 15-year-old's. A 75-year-old on average has the same IQ as a 10-year-old. That's not to say they aren't knowledgeable though. This is very offensive and maybe that's why it's not spoken about much. But it helps explain why so many angry, self-serving, uncaring parties are being repeatedly voted into power - and why so many populations are then suffering because of it. Not every older person shows age-related cognitive decline and these charts are 'generally' speaking. There are under-18s with the same intelligence as adults who in my opinion have just as much right to vote as older people, but are being wrongly denied the opportunity. That's why I think that people should have to take an independent and completely unbiased exam, with some kind of voting licence before being allowed in polling stations, with all the age restrictions removed.

How can you say Labour and the Conservatives care about everyone they don’t care about the British people OUR homeless and OUR veterans the ILLEGAL immigrants are always put first. We are not uncaring to want our country back and our children safe, be able to get hospital, doctors and dentist appointments and not always be at the back of the queue behind the people that don’t contribute to our economy but we still in the form of foreign aid contribute to the economies of the countries they have left in some circumstances. This is beyond ludicrous what is going on in this country, and Ireland.
