I was there as a Dream Theater fan club member, THANK YOU so much for this upload! What a surprise! Exactly the memory I had of you and your reduced drumset, all playing with heart and so much feeling for the dynamics. One of the best concert, dream theater + pain of salvation + ark in 'private evening'. Since this concert, I've worked hard to become a musician, moved to Paris for playing lives concert and becoming a music teacher years after. THIS concert changed my life. Thank you once more, you were the drummer in a so wonderfu and promisingl band we discovered there and you made it so perfect with this drumset, that it even gave motivation to learn what a drummer job is at a pro level. It gives a higher level for a guitarist musician. Thanks. Hope you'are fine at whenever and wherever you are. Love.
You were there? Great, special day and night in Paris..thanks so much for the words and also for compliments about drumming and my baby ARK. it's great for me to read this. Thank you
@@JohnMacalusoDrums oh yes I was there, explaining why I keep on looking for ark's members actuality through the years :) .I think I have a videorecord of this somewhere. ô yes it was a special night. Just a little and all the album is a legendary masterpiece. you turned on this night, as a legend for at least the people I was with. for years, so thanks to YOU. all the arrangements you made from the album blown us away. video does not show what was in the air. Many young french musicians in the public, as we were all from dream theater's frenchie fan club. Pain Of Salvation is also part of this incredible journey and -night-that-changed-all-in-a-musician-life. They had no sound engineer and went throu many troubles so sooo well. All the night was wow and turned to be a root for many french musicians future. Be sure of that. Thanks to you, hope you'll never stop drummin and express your feels ;) we're living together in differents places and spaces, but hey thanks for the work and soul in it!
Beautiful to hear..merci. i am so happy to read your comment. Keep on touch, thete are some Ark suprises coming up in the mear future, not getting together but some things happening. @@camille_decibela
@@cutiepie4831 yes, best tom tuning trick is to play the Italian traditional song the "Tarantella" between two toms. They will be 4th's. When sounds correct then go to the next two toms and do the same. And so on. For snare crank bottom head way tight and top is your preference. Kick drum tight on outer head and very loose on batter head.
Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it. No, I recorded the two Romeo albums in Italy, actually San Marino. After the first one came out I did this playthrough video in a town near where I live in Italy. BUT I AM A NEW YORKER!!! Now I have my own studio Studio Mac9000 here in Italy.
11 out of 10!!! Hope things get solved and we can see you all guys playing some music again. The last thing you lose is hope! Greetings from Colombia to you, Johnny Mac!!!
Hi John! I just found out today that you were the guy drumming on one of my very favorite albums of the last 25 years, "ARK - Burn the sun". I just listened to your album "The radio waves goodbye" and it is awesome! I love your style 😍Keep on going man!
Thanks a lot, so glad you dig my solo album. Yeah, that's me on ARK. Ark was my baby. It was the only band I started besides the band I formed when I was 11. Burn The Sun is coming out on vinyl I think in about 2 months. Look out for it, it's a beast. Thanks again.
What a tasteful drummer and musician. Every album he's been on has automatically turned into gold. I know Michael is himself a guitar beast and virtuoso, but to have someone like this laying the beats to your songs must feel otherworldly. Kudos to John, now and always.
Hello Jhon my name is Anthony, I'm from Perú, your job is great I don't have words, but technically and spiritually is great, You have a connection with the drums in your eyes in your body,Your Spirit, for me when a musician have a Spiritual connection, you can create a Stella sucesiva questo è un lienzo invisibile dove si può scrivere with the hand from de soul, Your job, in the war of the worlds 1 and 2 is extraordinary and inspirational for me ogni beat, you're a artist who I like to know, thank for showme with your composition skills that in tutti suoni, hanno una possibilità nascosta
Anthony, your comment is exactly what I why I started drumming in1979.......LIVE YOUR PLAYING. Feel it. Somedays you are good but when you let the mind and body flow,, that's when magic can happen. Some days are just some days, like LIFE right? Play who you are. Thanks so much for your amazing comment, it made my day, which can be a bad drumming day ha ha. You get it. Thanks Anthony. By the way, I have been to Peru and I love it. Hopefully I get to play there soon.
Oh man, these ARK times are awesome bro. It Will be cool too see you again with Tore and Jorn, pure class. Do you have any gig on Barcelona or near? Hugs fratello!!!!
Have been following John all over when we both had super long hair living in NYC to around the world. As a drum student and friend , I am happy to read all these great replies and comments. Every single one is well deserved. John is the drummers drummer. A musical talent that transcends just “drumming” guy should be more well known mainstream. However that means more John for all of us to enjoy. Happy to be his long time friend and student. John, you sir are fucking amazing….
