We don't have Legend series in Europe, but looking at the specs and photos, L600 have a bit smaller woofers and mid range (but they still ho lower in Hz). L600 have better cabinet with more bracing which should make sound more clear, tighter bass and less resonances. Also, L600 has a possibility to integrate dolby atmos module on top of the speaker. Legend is higher end product. I think Legend also has natural wood finish instead of plain PVC.
i bought the L600s in switzerland about four months ago . they were heavily discounted . the crutchfield company in America was selling them at the same price last year , so maybe there is a connection ? the box they came in had a french shipping label , so maybe they were originally in France and the swiss company somehow acquired them ? strange but anyway i'm super pleased .
@@siriosstar4789 they were definitely available in EU some time ago, but I don't see them now. Not sure why. Maybe Reserve series are just replacing Legend, so they were discounted. I think distributor for Switzerland is in France and that explains the label on your speakers.
Hi Garso, How are you? Which would be better for my listening space which measures 19ft long x 11ft wide x 10-14ft high between these AE520 or AE509 speakers. Are Acoustic Energy speakers relevant in 2024 or are there any floor standers in this same price point that are better today? Thanks in advance.
Again the same garbage sounds because there is no trace of mid sounds. He plays an emotionless piece. It sounds clean and clear, but there are no booming mids. They will never replace JBL.
I want to hear the AE in person. The KEF LS50 metas are great too. I went Sonus Faber Lumina 2 over the kef, but the AE keeps getting rave reviews. Plus I just like hearing other systems.
Heard the AE's at an audio show and the sound signature wowed me. Also spoke to one of the engineers and the way he described the company's philosophy prompted me to buy a pair on the spot. Haven't looked back since. DAMN, there are SO MANY good speakers out there!!
I picked up a pair of focal chora 826 Ds on close out for $1,500. . I use the dolby atmos all the time via high end jumpers. They are pretty close to the R700s. I need to add treble to get female vocal where I want it. Better tweeter goes to Polk. Without the close out discount I would not have paid more for Focals, and would have bought these instead. If you can still find 826Ds on close out, they might be the better deal.
KEF is better in terms of legibility and delineation of sound. However, AE better tonal balance. AE has a better lower middle. KEF is a little too much for me.
It's really good for the price. Pylon also makes cabinets for some other manufacturers. Maybe the weakest point with this model was not enough bracing inside which makes bass a little boomy, but it's very much improved in mk2 version. Now the bass is just as deep and more precise and dynamic.
these are very underated speakers you have to go in and listen to them you will be impressed im sure. the bass is incredible with the down firing ports polk really got it right with these speakers.

I would go for R700, especially if it's not only for movies, but also for music. Much more natural sounding speakers than Klipsch. And they also have a very good soundstage. Can't comment on Q950 as I haven't heard them.
I opine AE500 suitable for slow music like Jazz, Classical etc warm sound. Kef is fast and dynamic. Compare between 3:06 and 4:14, the mid range of AE500 is muddy when playing fast music... personally I prefer AE500 for warm sound 😊
I like them both, and already own the KEF's. In this demo the kef's sound more closed in, and I notice that at my house as well. I really would like to own a pair of ae500's. Maybe some day I will. All of those out there who say the kef have no bass, and too much tweeter must be using bad equipment. I would really like to hear an ae300 vs ae500 comparison to see how much better the ae500 might be !
Nice video and sound test! I have the R700 as well. Great sounding and good looking speakers. The first two tracks you played are in my playlist too! I recommend Sem Voce and This Masquerade by Martina DaSilva, Wake Up Alone by Amy Winehouse, Work Song by Gregory Porter and Mister Magic by Bob James: Feel Like Making Live album to play on these. Nice. Sounded like a Martin Logan ESL. I finally had the chance to my brother in laws ML ESL and this is how it sounded. I have an older Polk Audio RT-2000p and the sound of that is more subdued compared to this. The R700 has a more " open " sound, and that is what I am looking for when upgrading.
Just for the bass alone: it's the kind of articulation and quality that I'd get from much more expensive speakers. The mids are open, boxless, transparent and neutral to warm, and the treble is well extended with great detail retrieval. What I described would (in the past) been a $4000+ set of Vandersteen signature 3a's. Needless to say, I have these and sold my Vandersteens.
I am having now for first time ls50 meta for try in my setup and I have really problem tom get tht somebody says they are analitical. What I hear is aabsolutely great reproduction of musical instruments without any color, ...just like the instrument really sounds. Paired with cambridge axa35,....with naim xs2 it is not good pairing.
@@janulik9535 LS 50 has a reputation for being a little power hungry. I have an AXA 35 as well. Great amp, but at 35 watts I don't think you will get the best the LS 50's can offer. I am not surprised you added the disclaimer.
@yyl1060 the disclaimer was not adressed to axa35 but to xs2. Dispite kef ls50 meta having reputation of being power hungry and minimum recomended power of the amplifier is 40 per channel into 8 ohm, axa35 is handling them well. Of course there is difference if you use stronger amplification but there are many stronger amplifiers per claimed wattage number which will not handle them as axa35 for sure. That was the point of my oreginal coment.
@@janulik9535 Understood. I am not knocking the Cambridge. As I say I own one and I think it is a great amp for the money. Just saying there are times when certain amp/speaker combinations don't always combine well. It's good that you are happy with yours and enjoy your listening!

Pylon Diamond series sound really good for the money, but they are not the same level as SF Sonetto. SF has richer midrange, more dynamic and precise bass. However, I like the soundstage of Diamonds maybe a bit more. But in general, different league.
two acoustic systems are good, kef plays cleaner and more analytically, AE is deeper, there is a body in the middle but dirtier in the upper frequencies... AE will be good for different rock genres, kef is more universal... when choosing, it’s a matter of everyone’s taste person...
AE500 is smoother in the highs. Warmer mids. Bass is deeper. LS50 meta is crispier in the highs. Vocal is neutral. Bass is punchier n taut. In comparison. AE500 sounded more polite n restrained on some tracks. LS50 meta is more open n livelier. Both are great speakers. It boils down to system synergy and matching to our own taste for music we like. I have the LS50 myself. Drive it will the right powerful amplifier n take time to position them. The sonic reward is huge.

Man these speakers really do sound phenomenal im going too buy them hopefully next year or sooner in the process of saving for them and the units too power them as well..
I enjoyed listening to your video. By chance do you know what the decibel level was? I've tried to listen to music like linken park and anything approaching 75-80db sounds like crap! If I'm in the mood for Creed or Pearl Jam. I want to feel the bass drum and have the snare drum snap! Without the voices and cymbals becoming distorted. This takes 90-95 db in my room. I have a Denon 1061 class A integrated amplifier 105wpc @ 8 ohms and 185wpc @ 4 ohms. Currently my speakers are Martin Logan Quest Z and I'm considering ordering a set of the polk R700's.
Have heard both in the flesh. Both excellent. For me the Kef’s in direct comparison are better analytically but lack the natural musicality of the AE’s. Obviously completely subjective but to me the AE’s have a bit more weight and sound more natural. As with all things, it comes down to what you value most in sound signature

Newbie here and dont have golden ears. goal is just enough to be impress on any content on my system but mostly for movies. looking to have immersive cinematic experience. Hi, for movies, I would go with R600. I'd say your room is a bit too small for R700 and it's not worth it. Maybe, if it would be music system without any subs, I would try R700, but they still might sound too overwhelming in your room.
I was very luck when I bought Elac Debut Reference speakers brand new for half retail price, from someone who changed his plan to get 7.1 surround speakers instead.
