Okay here is your world history lesson for today Auntie Skitten: Xi Jinping is the president of the republic of China, someone once said he looked like Winnie the Pooh and he did not take it kindly, so Winnie the Pooh is outlawed in China now; if you criticize him you mysteriously disappeared (into black Government SUVS and mysteriously taken your own life) this has been, World History News more at 11
Winnie the Pooh is used to refer to the President of China (couldn't tell you why); Zhu Hengpeng is a Chinese economist who (apparently) said some minor Criticism of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), the party that runs mainland China. The CCP has a habit of trying to "disappear" people that speak out against them in ANY way shape or form, to whatever degree, much like the Soviet Union did. And more often than not, those people end up _gone_ gone.
4:14 yeah but that particular time period was the 80's, the only reason tim curry was always in a tuxedo in the movies he was in is the same meme of "always playing the same character"
Just wanted to mention that RU-vid still has me subscribed thankfully, but it's turned my notifications off apparently. And when I set it back to "All notifications", in the same tab, that slashed out bell was still there. To "Personalized", instantly changed. Had to open it in 3 different tabs to see the "All notifications" bell again. Just wanted to let you know. Not sure if just my stuff, or a wider issue.
For movies based on books it might be better that they be animated so that they can get as many details as they can to stay true to the book Rather than a crappy live action movie that's missing half (or more than half) of the [rather important] details
Winnie the Pooh is used to make fun of Xi Jinping because Winnie is "A bear of very little brain". It was a safe way to call him stupid with plausible deniability. And they're quite fond of making problems "disappear".
Xi Jinping is the president of the Chinese Communist Party. People who criticize him tend to vanish, sometimes forever. Also people made fun of him for looking like Winnie the Pooh lowkey and now I shit you not he's banned in China.
Xi Jinping is president of China. He's known for making people who criticize him disappear, and being teased for looking like Whinnie the Pooh apparently.
Stede Bonnet thought he was Luffy and wanted to be king of the pirates. Playing Assassin's Creed Black Flag, I never understood why his rich, dumb ass decided to throw all his life away and become a pirate. Then he cried and begged not to get hung when he got caught, nah nigga accept your responsibility and punishment 😂!
Camels are not native to Australia, they were brought over by the British. Technically they are an invasive species but unlike most invasive animals Camels hardly do any damage to the native wildlife from Australia unlike Rabbits and Rats
Since you're interested in the history of the English language and linguistics, you should check out videos on Tangier Island, located in the Chesapeake Bay, off the coast of Virginia. It's a tiny, fishing island that is so isolated, the people there still speak with a 17th century, early English dialect very similar to the colonists that settled the island. Most videos use subtitles when talking to the residents because it's difficult to understand them. My dad went there when he was in his teens and he said he couldn't understand what anyone was saying. I took a History of the English Language class in college and there was a chapter in the textbook about Tangier Island because it's so linguistically unique.
You guys do have a weird holdover from gendering: the and the. The old English being unitelligible to modern English is so odd, as a Dane I can navigate (really) simplistic old Norse sentences
14:30 Yeah, sharks knowing about crocodiles isn’t exactly new. They’ve been rivals since the Jurassic period with Dakosaurus and Hybodus, to the late Cretaceous with Dienosuchus and Cretoxyrhina.
One of my least favourite things about commonly assumed true theory that Blackbeard was from the West Country is that the other two people he’s theorised to be were also upper class and one served on the same ship as Bonnet’s wife, Both possible explanations of why they got along so well, and also worth stating that in the golden age of piracy pirates generally ate really well, for sea men, most notably because of how easy it was for them to do piracy and steal things like food, chocolate and wine for eating and drinking and sell all the cash crops and leftovers, also the pardoning of pirates and the guy behind it (commonly depicted as a villain) was almost entirely bloodless and ended the anarchy of the golden age of piracy, turning pirates from celebrated and rich into hated and fighting for enough food to survive in like a generation
Before I watch this video, these are the pirates I know of, that are not famous: Captain William Kidd; known as the Unluckiest of Pirates. He was tasked with hunting pirates, to no success. The very day that he decided to become a pirate, all pirates (and buccaneers) were outlawed throughout Europe. He was then lynched. And of course: Henry Every; Ironically called the King of Pirates, despite the fact that no one knew who he was. The only pirate to loot the single largest bootie from one vessel without ever being caught afterwards. He disappeared with his bounty and has never been found, to this day. Edit: spelling.
The SCP universe is more of an depth perception of the dark imaginations of the human mind, the unknown reaches of human consciousness coalesced from the Immaterium
A British butcher once told me you can tell a lot about the influence of French rule over the English through meat. The animal is a pig, but the meat is called pork (French for pig=porc). The animal is a cow but the meat is called beef (French for cow=boeuf). The animals is a sheep, but the meat is called mutton (French for sheep=mouton). He said "It shows you who was working the field and who was doing the eating."
The original video has this amazing comment: “growing up as a crocodile is basically turning the list of animals that can eat you into the list of animals you can eat”
