He didn’t have to beat much in this race , BUT , with out a doubt certainly the best trotter ever in Australia ( and there have been some terrific ones ) and I doubt that there has been or will be a better one anywhere in the world . The beauty of harness racing once again - Father and son operating from their country farm with no “ bells and whistles “ involved , just a magnificent horse bred by them also .
I've been trying for years to find history of Kaimoto. It was a favourite of mine when I first started punting. I think for memory it won 7 races in a row over jumps and flat.
Gammalite wouldn’t have blown a candle out after that race- it would have had to be one of his easiest runs - a terrific champion of yesteryear and as tough as they come .
I was there this day. There was another occasion when Gammalite raced and in the straight the caller said he can’t win and he did. Anyone remember that?
