Dude this is sick!! From a playing perspective, how does the slide compare to just doing normal pitch bends? Is it just easier to get long bends? Is there more sustain?
More sustain, because you're not increasing string tension as much as if you bend a note. It also reacts to overdrive and effects radically differently - you can hear in this example that his drive really kicks in more as he slides, and this doesn't happen the same way if you bend a note. So yes - easier (if you're good at slide) to get long note bends with slide, and there are many unique sounds you can get when combining slide with effects and/or overdrive.
