The rugby bonus point system will work a lot better. Win - 3pts Score 100pts(win or lose) - 1pt Win by 15 - 1pt Lose by 5 - 1pt Wins are more valuable. Close games also reward the losing team, and you eliminate garbage time. The winning team can get up to 5 points. The loser can still get 2 points.

Wouldn't teams be more likely to play players who should be resting in high-point games? Then they'd just end up sitting other games or getting hurt. This doesn't solve the problem. It just changes it.
