This video brought back many happy memories of our 2 week family holidays around this time. We always stayed in the same guest house for many years. I had forgotten about the trains on the beach. Thank you for uploading.
It blew off coolant as he did not have radiator vents set proper and temperature got hot enough to pop the pressure valve. He panicked and forced it down in an unnecessary emergency. He received quite a negative review of his pilot ability for damaging the rare airplane. Somewhat of an entitled spoiled brat attitude was credited to him
@@captainaxle438 Sir John Allison was allowed to fly this Bf109 - God knows why! This aeroplane had taken 20 years to restore to flying condition by a dedicated team led by Russ Snadden. Allison flew the plane correctly until he was on the downwind leg. The Messerschmitt vented some coolant as it was designed to do. At this point Allison panicked and called an emergency landing. He then proceeded to fuck the whole thing up by landing too fast, overshooting the runway, leaping over the M11 and ending up inverted in a field. As if that wasn't bad enough, the complete arsehole then had the temerity to criticise the hood (which had saved his useless neck) and to claim that he was the last RAF Pilot to "down a Bf 109". What a useless prick!
I remember watching this as a child, the sequence with music starting at 6:20 is outstanding. Our secondary school English teacher kept asking the class if we had seen that particular Red Arrows sequence and we all kept saying "No" so he would show us it again !
Luckily I have A DVD with it on !, so hopefully this is the best version available ! Noel Edmonds loved the Music so Much, It was Released as A single , Which I have lost !
Do love this DVD, used to watch it all the time as a child. I think the soundtrack is great too, with variety of chaos, and calmness. Thanks very much for uploading. Glad to be your 500th subscriber! :)
Hi Colin.. could you post the full hawk film if you have it? that brings back memories of watching as an air cadet in mid 80s.. can't find a decent copy anywhere..
Back in 1981, the ABC-TV news magazine "20/20" aired the first 2:22 of this video as a "fill-in" piece. I was blown away by the symbiosis of video and music! It took me years to discover that the video was by Arthur Gibson and the music was "Hypercharge" by Francis Monkman. Unfortunately, I've never found it on DVD, so all the footage I've ever seen of Gibson's program is grainy VHS footage like this.
First track (up to 2:24) is "Hypercharge", by session musicians Malcolm Ironton and Francis Monkman, second half is "Fly" by The ODS Band. A 7" single was released by the BBC after "many enquiries for a record of the music".
They were practicing in greece for many years at springhawk,in tanagra over my house,I was very happy to see them flying,I want to be a pilot and they were inspiring me,now I am 15 years old and I keep on dreaming
