So powerful in truth. I weep for all those young men, and for all the families who had that car with a star on the door come to deliver a death notice. May we always remember their sacrifice.
Wer verstehst deutsch. Verstehst ihr? Wer hat bei diesem Krieg am höchsten bezahlt. Und ihr habt aless vergessen.. GUT.. Ich bin kein putin progabandist. Mein Opa in 1944 gefallen..
My God. If the people of today only took the time to hear and understand what the Greatest Generation sacrificed how much they lost and how much we have all benefited from them interact the way people do today it's heart-wrenching
My husband 1990 active duty for 16, reserves years, Star spangled banner and American pledge of allegiance are his favorite songs. There will always be his favorite songs.
I've been to war...... It's awful....... I'm glad my son opted for not joining. Here's hoping my grandsons are spared this blight on humanity. This movie gave me nightmares for a while
Words cannot express my gratitude to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. I lost 2 classmates in the Vietnam War (both 19 years old) and my uncle wad killed in WWII. His body is buried in an American cemetery in the UK. The family never got him back. My ex retired fron the U.S. Navy after 27 years; my son-in-law served 2 tours in Iraq in the U.S. Navy and retired after 25 years; another son-in-law retired from the U.S. Navy and my grandson has been in the USMC for 18 years. True patriotism is being willing to serve and to know what that really means.
Makes weep like a child this scene, my grt grandfather was a Boer war and ww1 veteran injured at 3rd Ypres sent home 1917 after 3yrs, 10 men from my family 3 of them brothers died in ww1 I have found 5 and paid my respects visiting them every year. both my grandads served in ww2 and many great uncles n cousins two of them were KIA in that war. A great uncle was a P.O.W of the Japanese he came home weighing just 6 n half stone (about 91lb or 40kgs) he died relatively young aged just 65 the rest of his siblings 12 of them lived to be in their 80s n 90s, nan said it was his injuries that killed him and what the Japanese done. I served in the T.A (reserves) for 4yrs and the R.A.F for 6. I see this film just once I cant watch it again its too painful, I have combat stress due to my time in, for that reason I cant watch it again . I'm proud of my family history in serving think I even found a distant cousin who served in Crimea in the 1850s . Anyways God bless all those men British, Canadian, Polish , American and many others who ended the tyranny of Germany and Japan in ww2 especially those who did not come home and those who did and suffered with shell shock, p.t.s.d and combat stress all but forgotten by their Governments . To all veterans out there in the words of my grt grandads regimental moto, The Devonshire regiment "Semper fidelis" .
In the beginning of the video when you see all of Ryan's descendants, think of all the people who were never brought in the world because their ancestors were killed during this brutal period of world history. All the Chinese, Japanese, Americans, Russians, Jews, Germans, etc., etc. who are not here now because leaders of certain countries thought war was the answer. A lot of everyday Joes and Josephines were sacrificed because of these leaders!
What makes it even sadder is they fought and died for the country that exits today, the leadership today is more evil then the leadership they were fighting against
My dad was a WW2 veteran. 44th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force. B-24 flight engineer/top turret gunner. Participated in the D-Day invasion. Dad passed in 2022 at the age of 100. Truly the Greatest Generation!!!! RIP Dad.
I have proudly served 17 in the united states army and I have three combat tours under my belt. No matter what conflict, war shows you every horror the human race brings to the table. Albert Einstein said as long as there are men there will be wars, it's growing pains. All I know for sure is a soldier doesn't fight because he hates what's in front of him a soldier fights because he loves what's behind him. Salute from a soldier to all who have served and all who have fallen.
You didn't have to pay with your life, so it makes it easy. Maybe your son didn't have to pay with his, so it makes it easy. When we hear our country being criticized, or worse yet, when we do the criticizing, it makes it easy. AND, when we go to the polls, it makes it easy. Easy for those of us who don't have a heart, easy for those of us who lack the courage to do the right thing. Voting our party verses our direction of righteousness, makes it easy to cheapen ourselves. We know the right thing to do. Don't overthrow a wounded government, bend down and pick it up. It's easy. Is this politician the best you've got? Pick the man/woman who picks this country over him/her self. It's easy.
I never could understand how his wife and children and grandchildren did not know about the captain and maybe the story behind it and it’s three brothers???
I've been to that cemetery. It's quiet and peaceful as it should be. Although I have no blood there as my parents came to America from Europe after WWII, I cried like a child..Seeing all those crosses is beyond words, it's the most powerful thing I've ever experienced and I will never forget.🇺🇸❤
In solemn silence, I stand, hand over my civilian heart, wet eyes and pursed lips, trying to be as stoic as you Great men and women who gave so much and those who gave their all… Honor and Respect
Yes, many lives lost, heartbreak BUT whoever wrote the script, etc either was not in the US Army or simply wanted to change reality, a shame it is so far from how the military operates.
"Di que he sido digno" !!!!!!!, "si, si has sido digno" !!!!!!..... probablemente son las ultimas palabras que todo ex soldado quiere escuchar en el umbral de su muerte, SIEMPRE LEALES 🇲🇽😢
Served as an 82nd Airborne combat medic, long time ago. Did my job, that is all. I came home, others did not, we all did our fuckin jobs. This tribute only brings back pain, no one really cares, unless it is them. Drive down any street in this country today, how many flags do you see, very sad. My flags fly untattered 24/7, 365 days a year, Old Glory watching over my divisional 82nd Airborne colors. One of the 1st things I see in the morning, and before I go to sleep. Nothing I can do to make people realize why they are free. I play my violin for the ones who did not come home, I hope they hear my love. God Bless America and all our fallen brothers and sisters.
Yes and l intend to fight for are freedom again this time l and 1,000s of others will make sure we get them all. This has got to stop.. It's cost us far to much in blood
I had the privilege of paying tribute to the 7,000 plus buried in the Nettuno Italian American Cemetery. That day several of the men who fought with the underground along with Italian school children also paid their respects as well. The cemetery is so beautifully maintained. White head stones standing at attention dress right dress as if standing for inspection. Our nations hero’s buried under a blanket of green asleep in quiet solitude under blue skies by day and calm starry nights. It was hard not to shed tears that day. After 20 years of military service I still recall my visit that day with each passing Memorial Day Celebration. I’m 71 years old now yet, three little words I have never forgotten still rings in my mind always, Duty, Honor,Country 🇺🇸🫡
Every time I watch this video, I wept for not only these fine American heroes. I am a retired professional soldier who served 2 tours in South Vietnam and came out of retirement for Operation Desert Storm. Have the honor of being 5th generation army and Black American.
