You're often really close to the brush. How do you prepare for a surprise bear encounter such as a charge? Do you carry a sidearm?
@glacierguidesinc.3117
@glacierguidesinc.3117 5 дней назад
Surprisingly, a ‘surprise bear encounter’ is very uncommon due to the fact we are moving slow…and are very strategic where we sit. For us, bears are not aggressive in our view. They want to get away into the woods. We don’t carry a sidearm as we already have a rife in hand and would need to put it down to get a handgun pulled out. Also, in my view a handgun is a very inefficient weapon to neutralize a bear if needed-bear spray is far more effective in that close range situation. Over the last 25 years I have had very few charges….. most with sows and cubs in the fall as she tries to get them off the river. Many can be deterred ahead of time. Thanks for your question. Mutts.

My favorite hunt of the year! God bless you guys for taking your kids hunting. I've done the same and no regrets, Big experiences change people. Cars, houses and all that stuff kids will get on their own in time. But an adventure hunt takes a parent!

Great to see you guys comin to Canada, always a great vlog to watch. What do you think of what the BC government did to the Grizzly Hunt and what would you recommend Outfitters/Hunters do to get it back? Besides voting the Anti's out of government, witch is hard to do in a province run by hippies. Happy Huntin.
