As an educator, yes, Ruby Bridges was and is a hero. She was also called the N word, had rocks thrown at her, was threatened with poisoning and death…by white grown-ups, racists. Ruby was 6 years old. Isn’t it good for a teacher to inform children about the wrongs of prejudice (including how hateful the use of the N word is)? We teach history because we don’t want the bad things to be repeated. Ruby’s book is a perfect opportunity to do that with young children. They will learn such words… often in a far more negative and less factual way, quite possibly in their own homes or in the homes of friends whose parents are racists. Banning books will not protect your children from evil. More likely, it will leave them more vulnerable to it.

The intent to offend the Christian population was not intended by the inclusion version of the iconic painting by Leonardo da Vinci. The creator of this artwork may have initially have used da Vinci;'s painting as inspiration, however this artwork does have elements of the feast of dionysus from Greek history/mythology in it as well. The Daily Signal is pitching a major hissy fit over a different interpretation of The Last Supper, but where is the uproar from The Daily Signal for all the lives of children lost in the last few weeks in this country at the hands of their parents and fellow children with the use of gun violence? Where is the outrage from The Daily Signal for all of that? For much more damage has been done to the children in this country at the hands of guns alone over things like gender affirming medical care along with other inspirations of the LGBTQIA+ community multiple times over.
