just wondering how the trains find the first radius of the track for n gauge? heard quite abit about the trains having trouble going around. derailing and so on.

Hi is it self adhesive or does it need glued. Looking to buy the same size tarmac mat but it doesn’t say in any of the description of the product.

may i ask does the controller work on hornby oo guage track

@AndyCarter-db4gt 5 месяцев назад
Yes. The same model Gaugemaster controllers work with Z, N, And OO gauge track. I've used with Hornby, Peco, Arnold and Kato track, OO and N.

I assume you've figured it out by now, but the grey base on that shed appears to be upside-down. The track is meant to sit on top of the base holding the shed in position.

Thanks for the review. I got the Javis BZ1M Wargames Field Zone Battle Mat. Similar, but with more grass like flock, some grey stone paths, and a few areas of heavy flocking to replacate small hills. Very dusty. Might be good to spray some glue over it to keep it down first.

You have a good gf! We call the loopy thing a runaround (at least in the US). You need at least two switches, or turnouts as they are sometimes called.

Cheers Its little distraction from my main layout im building feel free to take a peep at my model railway channel if you get a spare minute CHEERS!

Double check to make sure none of the gears are cracked or chipped, and that the side rods are straight and free of burrs. All of those things will cause the loco to stutter. Cleaning the wheels also helps with a brass brush helps, but it seems like the main issue was those bits jammed in the gears (likely the result of someone running on the floor). By the by, what's the backing track?
@tastytrains9175
@tastytrains9175 3 года назад
Oh i should check that! I really hope the gears are okay. I didn't notice anything strange, but i wasn't specifically looking for it... I think (and hope) it's most likely the wheels that need a clean now. Brass brush you say? any particular kind you'd recommend?
@mulletsailor
@mulletsailor 3 года назад
@@tastytrains9175 the kind used for cleaning electrical contacts is good, which you can get at the local hardware store for a few quid. There are also special powered wheel cleaning brushes, but those are more pricey. You just want use something soft enough it doesn't unnecessarily scratch the wheels. Btw, your track does look pretty shiny, but go over it with a cloth soaked with vinegar or isopropyl if you haven't already, get any remaining bits of gunk off.

Ties, perhaps for making your own flex-track? You can buy rail separately and make yourself necessary spacers. The whiskey one is a covered hopper for transporting grain. That 30k-gal tank fits in real well (lolz). It'll run, just needs larger curves. They were built in the 1960s. And the word you were looking for is "drive rods". The train shed and cathedral are pretty nice looking. Peco is good stuff and they're still around, but all brands are basically compatible. Best of luck! Chat back if you want help.
@tastytrains9175
@tastytrains9175 4 года назад
thanks for the help! What are ties to make my own flex track? Do you mean the bits of rail without metal on them? Are drive rods the things that connect the wheels? I've ordered some peco track... just the standard beginner set for now... I'm so excited to get into it!
@mulletsailor
@mulletsailor 4 года назад
@@tastytrains9175 Flex track is flexible track for making non-standard curves. Sometimes the rail comes off the ties. But if those ties have no flex, then it's just a piece of track that the ties fell off of. It may still be useful for making odd lengths of straight track. Drive rods is kind of a generic term; I'm not enough of a steam guy to know the specific names for each rod (besides drivers and connectors). Peco is excellent track, so that's a great start. Right on that you also need a "power pack" aka a 0-15VDC variable voltage power supply (min 1 amp). You're not wrong that model railroading has kinda been left behind. There's the occasional nod to trains in futuristic movies (i.e. Hunger Games, Tron: Legacy), but the hobby still, primarily caters to people with historical interests. On the creative side, I'm working on a steampunk themed railroad concept. The challenge is that, for anything futuristic, you have to scratchbuild or kitbash your own models, and that's labor intensive (which is why my steampunk layout may be in L Gauge (aka, LEGO). Modelmaking is, however, full of useful mechanical skills that are (IMHO) underappreciated these days. ANYHOW... very interested to see the direction you go with this.

@@mulletsailor thanks :) A steampunk layout, hey? That sounds awesome! I've heard that the gauges sometimes have equivalent scales in wargames... for example n gauge is supposed to be similar to 10mm scale for wargames... could there be some steampunk stuff in an equivalent scale in wargaming?
@mulletsailor
@mulletsailor 4 года назад
There probably is some good stuff in wargaming, though I've only taken a cursory look. From what I've seen, much of it would be well suited for a sci-fi or post-apocalyptic scene.
