As a first-generation Haitian American, I'm here to explore all things health, education, and nursing. My journey has been a compelling mix of trials and triumphs, and I'm eager to share my experiences so you can learn from both my successes and mistakes. 💕

You are wrong my friend. The number of licensed RNs, LPNs, and CNAs is less than the current jobs in the U.S; therefore, there is a shortage with several employers.
@@NurseShida My source is my mother's DHA who is in the field. One article does not deem what the U.S. Dept of Labor and state statistics on licensed nurses.
the article isn’t just one source it highlights researchers in the field who have dedicated their lives to nurse advocacy. They have debunked the nursing shortage myth. If you have sources from your mom I’d love to see. I’m always open to learning.
They were volunteers that did non-clinical tasks like restocking supplies, getting the patients ice/water, taking walks with them, & keeping them company. Imagine just being able to have the nurse primarily focus on health needs? A dream. 🥹
All I can say to all healthy humans 😊PLEASE CONTINUE to take care of your own health and wellness 😊AND STAY AWAY FROM HOSPITALS!!!!!! Do not participate in the TOXIC CYCLE THIS CHARADE HAS BECOME SINCE COVID😮
I left nursing due to orientation training. I was expected to take a cart that had random bags of narcotics with no name, label, nothing…. The girl claimed there were 60 pills and got really pissed when I questioned it. Screw that, I am not going to prison for no one.
That’s not what this video is taking about sis. The bottom line is that there is enough people with nursing licenses but they choose not to work at the bedside…Trust me there’s plenty of places that nurses can go and do less work for more money. And they are. 🩷
Yeah I veen saying the same thing, its an agenda. Nurses cost the hospital the most. Flood the market and then in a few years lower the pay across the board.
I had no idea that was false information. I don't know but I would think that working in a doctor's office or a walk-in clinic would be less stressful. Hospital setting seems like it would be the most stressful.
Yess I’ve done both. My worst day outpatient (doctors office) was still less stressful than some of my best days bedside. We need help in the hospital. 😭
Despite all the negatives that come with nursing, from someone that came from a poor family and had to work low paying jobs for decades, I am grateful for at least having job security that nursing provides. Not having to stress out about being laid off or not getting enough hours to pay my rent, food and bills!
Thank you! I buy my hair from Kendra’s then have my wigs made and colored. @jadore_trezor on instagram made this one. I told her my vision and she showed out. 🥹
I am not a nurse, however, I work with several. And I can tell you that I pray for them every single day!! I see and hear the stress/frustrations/fear they experience. PLEASE PRAY FOR THEM 🙏🏾
I’m a tech and I couldn’t imagine nurses not having a tech it’s too much. They work super hard already to have to answer calls, change patients I would die lol. Nurses you all better appreciate us ☺️well at least the good ones.
I’ve been a tech too before I became a nurse and unfortunately as a nurse there’s been jobs where I’ve had to be both. 🫠 Trust me, we appreciate yall! Every role matters
@@NurseShidaEspecially those of us that were aides. I was an aide/CNA when I was laid off from Medical Assistant for 10yrs, have been Nurse 18yrs. Alot has definitely changed. I love private duty, 1 patient 🙏🙌❤️
The biggest expense of a business is the staff. They do this in all companies, the best way to increase profit is to decrease staff. When a ceo increases profits for stakeholders, they get a cut of that profit which is they (bonus). It’s done on purpose
This is why I believe cash based healthcare is the future for those with the budget. I have already done it with physical therapy and it’s soooo different than using insurance. It’s either you get free/cheap care or quality but you can’t get both.
During my clinicals I've been doing it seems like the hospitals I've been going to are making higher patient to nurse ratios and letting less nurses be working on a shift. In other words the nursing shortage isn't becausr they're in the process of hiring more nurses, its that they're increasing work loads of nurses and intentionally cutting staffing.
Exactly! It’s a systemic issue. Good luck with your nursing journey! I pray that you end up on a unit that has the resources and time to make your work life amazing! 🩷
Thank you. I'm graduating late December and hope to take the NCLEX ASAP after that. It's really disappointing whats going on. Most of my clinicales were at this one hospital I thought was going to be a good fit. At first the staffing was okay but now recently they increased their patient ratios to 6:1 for med surg days and 7:1 for nights. I thought this would be a good starting place untill this happened. During my last clinical you could literally feel the negative energy let alone hear it. At shift report the nurse managers literally said "Help each other out so we don't lose everyone". I'll have to figure out what I'll do when i get my license. @@NurseShida
That’s sad to hear. Definitely try to visit units before working on them. And if you take a job and don’t like it don’t feel bad about leaving. Do what’s best for you because it’s what’s best for the patients too.💛
Define "nurses". Do you mean people with nursing degrees/licenses or people actively employed as a nurse? Many people have left nursing as a career, but their license is still active. A statistic means very little if you don't define key terms clearly.
@@NurseShidaYou stated "when I say nurses, I'm speaking of everyone: RN's, LPN's, MSN's, BSN's". What *you* describe as "nurses" and what the statistic defines as a nurse within it's parameters may not, and likely are not, be the same. If you would refer back to my initial comment, you would see that I specifically asked whether the term "nurse" referred to licensed individuals, actively working individuals, no longer working yet licensed individuals, etc. As a PHD candidate, I would expect careful attention to what one reads is handled with due diligence. Thank you.
I am tech..I think I have been in the field for 20 plus years and still working ..I worked in every department in in the hospital ..This nursing issue will never get better for us or you guys because I think all those nurses who get higher positions within doesn’t care about the ones on the floor and most of them are there for only to move up and they tend to forget about the so call little people..policies are changing left and right in this field and some of it for patients and the rest I think is to add more work on us with not enough equal staffing for the mass work load..sis its not going to get better back in my day I love coming to work with 2 /3 tech and the floor it never bothered me but today it a no,no..love my job but the system at times make so hard to work comfortable..it was better 15yr ago not now..
That’s amazing! I’m sure you’ve been able to help thousands of people in those 20 years. Many ups and downs I’m sure. My prayer is through awareness and advocacy we can improve conditions. Maybe I’m overly optimistic but thank you for sharing your experiences the more we talk the more the public will learn. 🩷
It's the same in Australia. Hospitals blame their (intentional) short staffing on lack of nurses... but then nurses are unable to find jobs (or are having to compete for jobs). It's not as bad as in the US and UK, but it's still unfair and unsafe.
I have to agree with this young lady. I have been a nurse for 31 years and new nurses are making more money than me. I became a nurse to help people, but who helping me?
31 years is amazing! 🤩 And this is exactly why advocacy is important. We need people to speak up for nurses so that our working conditions and salaries improve. 🩷
It is so sad how this isn't illegal because it puts patients and our licenses in danger. But the common person who could help support this cause for safer ratios by voting is unaware of how bad it really is. These hospitals have lobbyists who ensure that someone outside of healthcare does not vote for safer ratios via false advertisement. As nurses, I think we need to focus on educating the general public of the evils of these corporations who put people at risk for profit.' This video covered this topic really well and I like how it was targeted towards the general public: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PrDyii0P4DU.html&pp=ygUWbnVyc2UgcmF0aW8gbnkgb3Bpbmlvbg%3D%3D SMH. We are in the ghetto.
Whew throwback tea! I was in high school during his time as governor but I definitely need to go do a deep dive on that whole nursing home controversy.
Mighty funny how you and your nurse fans in these comments talking mad shit about the nursing industry on RU-vid but wounded why yall get treated like shit.. complaining is a sin repent and leave the nursing field and make room for someone who actually cares about people..!
Yet here you are… filled with hate. Complaining in the comment section of a nurse’s video where I’m advocating for staff and patients. Very sad. I’ll pray for you. 🩷
So you would prefer no nurses at all? The new nurses will get jaded just as fast, believe me. If these issues were addressed it would be better for everyone... including you! God forbid you need medical care and there are no nurses available (because they all quit) to look after you.
I Think There is More So a Nursing Educator Shortage. No Nurses Professors to Teach Will Limit the Amount of Nursing Students Who Can Matriculate Thru Nursing School
Thank you for this perspective. While I do agree the issue is systemic. We do have more nurses than we ever had in US history. So there are enough nurses they just aren’t staying bedside. I speak on this in the video. 🩷
My guess is administration for these programs want to accept students who are MOST likely to pass the 2 or 4 year program, excel academically, and in extracurricular activities. But the number 1 reason is to say they set up their students to pass the nclex and give the program a 100% NCLEX pass rate reputation!
Hey, I just found your channel. Yeah, you’re right, bullying in the workplace is terrible. Actually all bullying is bad. It was always hard for me to stand up for myself but I make an effort to stand up for other people. Great job
the only thing that stopped the shortage at my hospital was us getting bad reviews. so it would make less money. So once the money aspect hit then we started getting all these new nurses and a bunch of CNAs out of nowhere wow
Well burned out nurses trickle down into every aspect of a clinic or hospital. Orders don’t get placed, they aren’t able to catch errors that doctors didn’t notice, and when that happens support staff gets bombarded with complaints and it makes their job’s miserable too. I was in admin and we’d get all the complaints, cursed out, and etc because there’s one nurse on a floor of an office of 10MDs has 3 RNs.
Direct nurse billing should be a thing. Let nurses bill for their services the same way doctors do. Take nurse salaries out of the room and board or general overhead category.
I didn’t say that. I love being a nurse BUT the systemic issues that make it harder than it needs to be need to be discussed. Even by non-nurses because sooner or later everyone is a patient. 🩷
Whew.. chile. I speak about it a little in a few videos but I’m going to make a video just about the racism because people need to know what Black nurses go through.
And that’s why the US spends the most on healthcare in the world but we have the worst health outcomes compared to every other developed country. We can’t keep putting profits over people when it comes to health.
@cheyla289 - I strongly disagree with you, most publically traded companies spend most of their money on CEO and board members bonuses, Dividends for shareholders, and propping up their stock price by stock buy backs. My bank here in Canada had a serious controversy where they discovered the CEO made 350 times more money in bonuses than the salaries of the average bank employee 🙄
Another thing I hate about Nursing is the public who are not Nurses think they OWN nurses, think we should work for free and be treated bad because we have “compassion”. Nursing is the only career where ppl will think ur supposed to go to school for years, pay thousands for nursing school, work long hours, give up so much of your life, put ur life on the line, BUT we shouldn’t care about money. what funny is no one tells that to Doctors and no one tells that’s to these hospitals where all the money is going.
If you become a cosmetologist people want you to cut their hair for free. Older ladies want you to come pick them up, cut their hair for free and then take them back home for free ! People can't work for free.
