The General Osteopathic Council regulates the practice of osteopathy in the United Kingdom. We work with the public and osteopaths to promote patient safety by setting, maintaining and developing standards of osteopathic practice and conduct.
Good to know that we have so much to look for on the Public Health with GOsC just signposting and yet critical if we don't achieve what they have said. They can make the requirements impossible to meet whilst working at the same time as small practices, but we must achieve whatever they set. It would be nice if we as osteopaths had seen these public notices before they went out so we could comment. I forgot GOsC don't have to talk to the osteopaths, just rule them.
Yes we do want to hear from osteopaths too, please get in touch with your views. You can find out more in our news story: www.osteopathy.org.uk/news-and-resources/news/commitment-to-equality-diversity-and-inclusion-demonstrated/
Matthew, 2.27 on kind of sums it up. How can you say "very significant and real risks" and allow us to remain open? I shut ten days ago yet there are still some of us working. It's not right. Are you legally restricted in some way, to not be able to tell us to stop unless the government says so explicitly? Then ask them to say so explicitly!
This is quite futile in message and advice. A more efficient use of osteopath time in this pandemic is to ask them to close their practice and volunteer in their local NHS to ease the burden. Serve the public. DO healthcare. GOSC, do the right thing for once and put the license fee to 0 for those that DO.
