I am a Jamaican that spent my early years growing up in the country side of Jamaica, at a time when we made most of our toys ourselves from whatever materials our imagination directed us to use, taking apart the broken manufactured ones and repairing them, this allowed me to develope a great mechanical aptitude. This is where I got the idea for this channel, it is to basically help the average person to do repairs on anything form household projects to mechanical ones, in terms anyone can follow.
Your video just helped my family out big time. I am not skilled in the arts of car repair. Our van took a dump the night before we were set to leave for vacation. Your video gave me the confidence and know-how to replace the faulty part. Really appreciate you putting this video out! We are now heading out with a functioning A/C and my wife is looking at me with new found attraction. An attraction that is based on something real. An attraction that is reserved for a man that solved a problem in an old school way. I thank you my man, thank you!
Love it love it love it, so happy to hear that, much respect to you and your wife, wishing you both a long loving and prosperous union.. and good to hear that my video was helpful for you..
Thank you! Pretty sure I've used your videos before for other repairs, so about time I commented lol. You're video is saving this newbie hundreds for a simple fix. I'd rather prefer to learn how to do any and all repairs within reason whenever possible, so it's greatly appreciated. 🫶🏻
You're quite welcome , I truly appreciate you taking the time to drop a few lines, and yes that is the exact idea behind my channel, these shops get us every way they can..
2012 Nissan Quest. Just finished today. Damn the engineer that design this shit. It took me 7 hours start to finish. Most things are straight forward. The hardest part was access to the top alternator bolt. I tried a combo of swivels and wobble extensions from the top. The coolant tube and wires gets in the way. I was only able to get it with a swivel socket and 3 wobbly sockets from under at an extreme angle. Wiggling the alternating in and out sucked. Installing the top bolt was the worse. I had a buddy pry the alternator up to line up the hole and finger threaded it in. After that, everything was easy. Good luck.
Excellent video! It helped a lot the first time I replaced the alternator and I'm reviewing it again after the replacement alternator failed after 18 months (Not an oil issue) Many Thanks!!!
I have a 2015 rogue select and the motor faces the opposite side, have to take out brake/gas pedals its such a pain in the ass. Of course the blower motor is totally stuck in place too
this is exactly what I am doing in my van this weekend. questions: how did you find out you had a leak? also what type of performance you gained after doing this job? more power? better idling? no more topping off the coolant in the radiator.. thanks.
Thanks Yardie, your video helped me out so much. I just did this for my in-laws and saved them 500 bucks. Took me about 30 minutes and was perfect for a nissan rogue 2016
My top hose wont catch thread for shit.... If something didnt get me during removal, it damn sure got me during replacement... Im over this damn car...every single time
The threads may need to be cleaned up, also sometimes you may have to bend the line slightly to get it started, and you should get it started by hand a few turns before you use a tool.
I would start with checking to make sure battery voltage is at starter signal wire when key is turned to start position, if no, check starter signal fuse, relay, if those check out, the next step is ignition switch, the [electrical side].
Thank you so much. Someone was supposed to help me. Instead, no show. Ive had a really really awful year thus far and completely broke down. This video helped me so much in more ways than one.
Its Moore back its been a couple weeks but we did replace the alternator on our 2010 Murano it took a little while, it was a little hard to get to everything it was hot we took a lot of breaks we put a remanufactured Quest 3 yr warranty and a new belt a.good one 331$ for parts then we put new battery also, we always do our own work been working on cars trucks since the 70's but hey your video was sweet sweet it helped so much because we had just bought the Murano and was not that familiar with it your video made it so much easier thanks again much much A Moore c town.
@@thediyyardie7192 the top alternator bolt was by far the hardest part of the job. I wish someone could have recorded you removing that, it would have helped tremendously ! But this was a very thorough and great video.
@@qwaderrickmoore-iu1jv you're correct about that, but because of the cramp work area I wasn't able to get that on camera, so I tried instead to explain how I was able to loosen it in the video.
@@thediyyardie7192 yes you did and with that explanation I was able to get it out with my 24 inch extension and wobble socket. Maybe I went at a different angle because of the length of my extension. Also it would have been easier with a helper holding up the alternator but…..what I did was go from the wheel well side and use the bottom alternator bolt to hold up the alternator, pushing the bolt in from the outside(opposite of where you took it out) just to hold the alternator up. Then I lifted the top of the alternator so I can raise the compressor and put a bolt in it where the compressor mount to the car so the compressor can help hold the alternator up. Then I went from the top to put the top bolt in and that worked sooo much easier for me than trying to hold the alternator and get the top bolt in first. Anyways, after I got the top on in , I went back to the bottom bolt and took it out so I can place it back in the way it came out.
You'll be fine, the hardest part of this job was probably getting the starter bolts loosened, but if you have access to power tools or at least a breaker bar that will do the trick.
I appreciate the compliment on my video, a few persons left comments saying my video is incomplete and missing certain steps, thanks for sharing that you were able to get it completed in 15 mins with the help of my video. big ups..
I'm having trouble locating the top bolt for the alternator. I have the ac compressor dropped and bottom bolt off the alternator. You accessed the top bolt from standing atop the motor? And how did you disconnect the electrical terminal to the alternator and reconnect it with such tight space?
I got to the top bolt with a couple of long extensions and a swivle socket from the angle of where the battery is located to the top bolt of the alt, as far as unhooking the plug from the top of the alt, I suggest keeping the lower bolt in place while removing the upper bolt, this will allow the alt to pivot away from the motor, you will then have space to depress the tab on the connector connected at the top of the alt, while doing that pull up to unplug connector.
@@thediyyardie7192 I took all actuators out did a recalibrate put the more back in did it recalibrate took them back out manually switched everything still warm on driver side put all actuators back dash is completely apart. Scanner is telling me left side doors not all the way up or up to temp, but the right side is all good, both doors is closing and opening good still having warm on driver side so hopefully changing his board out will fix this
@@dwaynemichael2679 it sounds like something else is going on there, if the door is closing it shouldn't be blowing hot, sounds like the door is not closing all the way for hot air to still come out, possibly a damaged or broken door.
@@thediyyardie7192 that’s what I’m think I literally took the whole dash apart ac vent tubes and all and still can’t figure it out so I’m just going to close my side off put a little usb fan on passenger side to blow cold air to my side I ain’t worried about it it’s more to it that I can’t do so be it thanks man
This was the worst alternator job i have ever done and even after looking at videos i had a hard time. It took me 4 hours with power tools. It was buddies car and I told.him it should be 30 minutes. After the job i told him to sell this garbage nissan and get a Toyota or lexus
Front Bracket 79.6 ft lbs. Caliper 54 ft lbs. Rear Bracket 28 ft lbs Caliper 17 ft lbs Much thanks for the compliments on my video, I've been doing this for a while now so I can feel my way through without a torque wrench on certain jobs, like this one for example..
That happened with my ‘13 Rogue. Dealer quoted me $3,200 for a new OEM rear diff but agreed to install a $380 rebuilt diff I found on clearance on EBay. Labor was $800
@@shellybelle6781 I'll do if for you for $200 if you're in Florida 33012 area. Btw you don't need to do all this to remove the axles, u just need to drop the exhaust from the bushings, remove the stabilizer link and a couple of bars underneath the axles. Then you will drop the front of the differential and stand it up on the ground and the axles will come out one at a time and boom, your old differential is off and the new one ready to be installed. One hour job. It's nuts to do it this way with all the extra work involved and things to potentially go wrong.
Thanks for your kind kind, calm directions!!! Perfect in every way. Now my disabled hubby and I have our own bike all set up, built by ME- but with your help!!!
Are you able to reach the resistor for the hvac blower this way since if i understand correctly its just the blower itself? You can correct me if im wrong please. Thank you for the response
two possibilities, it could be gummed up and need some electrical cleaner to free it up, or its worn and completely assembley needs to be replaced, have you tried to pry it up with some sort a pick?
Anyone watching the video or reading the comments to know we think an antifreeze leak a small drip that had been leaking down onto the alternator an almost new alternator and caused our problem killed our alternator very small leak minor leak that we ignored thinking its summer we just add a little water we weren't thinking if we had realized it was dripping down onto the alternator we would have hurried up and fixed the leak nows its cost us money and a big headache stranded on side the road etc etc you dont need dont wantl anything leaking onto the alternator it can cost money and problems 😮
Sweet sweet good job much better than another video that we saw we got a 2010 Murano SL needs a new alternator we think an antifreeze leak killed our alternator so we fixing to have to do the same thing with our Murano we already had the knowledge to do all that however the video is most helpful we know exactly what we up against before we begin, not familiar with the murano owned it three months now thanks for the help most grateful A Moore
Just replaced mine took 30min, hardest part was the disconnection of the wire from the motor, mine was melted a bit. But the whole process worked for a 2016 nissan rouge! Thanks!
